So up up up north I went, almost three hours by train, to meet up with Oz again. We hugged, we ate pizza, we watched Resevoir Dogs. A pretty good movie, though bloody.
Sadly, Oz had to work early this morning again so I'm back in Rotterdamned again, luckily the train trip back seemed shorter (though in Zwolle there was a slight misunderstanding. Luckily I had switched trains and I was in the right compartiment).

Didn't finish book V of Jordan's Wheel of Time series, contrary to my expectations. Now I hauled that hardcover (#VI) all the way to Gruns and back again for the pretty view.
Ah well.

Am pretty tired. NoKey updated something again and now I get some weird sounds whenever I open a window. Not that Xmms works, so I switched off the stereo. No music *pout*. Plus ofcourse that the fair Livejournal lay-out is all buggered by this newest version. Blah. Sometimes the woolheaded stubbornness of programmers who don't program for linux browsers can really tick me off. And most of the times I'm just glad I am on a safe OS here.

You set your targets quite high. When I think of how far you were on monday (judging by the bookmark)...
On the other hand I would probably also read faster if I were to read at times other than between going to bed and falling asleep.

I still have to watch Resevoir dogs - so many people have recommended it, but still I haven't watched it in all those years :p

Oops, yeah you need to disable the soundserver on startup.
Find that option under:

settings -> sound & multimedia -> sound system
The un-check "Start aRts soundserver on KDE startup" and apply.
This should reenable xmms and xine again.
You should also configure xmms to use "Alsa output plugin"
(right click xmms -> options -> preferences or use p) on the tab called "Audio I/O Plugins"
Of course I'll fix it all up for you when I get back home, but that won't be after Greek lessons so this should help you along for the time being.

In the settings - sound & multimedia there is nothing checked. At least, I can't find the "start arts soundserver on KDE startup" anywhere. And the "enable sound system" is unchecked, and in bold.

XMMS gives me a nice error saying I should check whether another application yadda yadda. With a nice 'chimes' like chord behind it, ofcourse.

*hugs back*

No, wait, XMMS gives me the message:

"Please check that:
Your soundcard is configured properly
You have the correct plugin selected
No other program is blocking the soundcard"

This sounds a lot like Windows. "Hey it could be this! Or this. Or maybe this. Or it might even be this. But I'm not sure, because it could be something else entirely, of course. Well, you can always try to e-mail our helpdesk, not that you will get a reply but bugger that, right?"
