Livejournal does not agree with me. It does not agree with Netscape. And it does seem to agree with Konqueror. Well, when it comes to the costomization. Not when it comes to the spiffy new Java-appleted top bar where you can mouse-over your way through a menu. Only Netscape understands that. But when I try to customize my journal looks, suddenly Netscape can't remember my settings.
It took me three tries in three seperate days (because it damn well ticks me off when a browser does not work) to get the journal to look this way. Everwhite. Luckily, in everwhite, the dates (as in the spiffy "November 27th, 2003 at the top of this post) is just like the background, completely white. Hence, it is invisible. So I had to use a colour overwrite. But I also use style overwrites because I want the link list to be displayed, 40 entries on my journal and 40 on my friends page, and I want the little box with the picture etc. to be on the right. Well, those overwrites are hard to accoplish if they're in two different java appleted tab menu's and Netscape can't remember what's in the one menu if you go to the other.

Good. Now that we have the style going and the colours are...not what I intended but acceptable. I have no further desire to work on my livejournal's looks until A) white begins to bore me [ahhh it's so cleaaannnn!!!] B) I have a payed account or C) when Konqueror accepts/understands Livejournal or D) When Livejournal accepts/understands any browser I might use or D) whenever Livejournal gets easier on someone.

Three days to go to ready Sword & Ink for publication. Pages done: 15. Total pages: 20. But that doesn't say anything. The things I still need to do are the recipe page (easy), the article pages (hard) and write an editorial (Eeek!). And I'm not talking about the pictures I need to make but probably can't make here.

But all in all, it's fun working on Sword & Ink, especially on a working computer. With functioning internet. It's fun ftp'ing with nothing but a shell console. It is! And now I've come fully to terms with why folder names and file names should NOT have spaces. *grin*
In any case, I'm working and I feel fine. My back is better today. My neck and shoulders were very sore this morning, but they've come to terms with me, it seems. Or it's a cease-fire. That's a possibility too. I hope it'll all be over soon.
In other news, I'm falling ill with angina or a regular flu. Whee!

Your LJ page looks good.
Damn, I am supposed to be a profeesional computerprogrammer, and even I don't know how to deal with style overwrites and colour overwrites. I did take a look at it once, for I am not completely happy with the way my LJ looks now. I am not unhappy about it, but I'm not completely happy either.
But as I said, I didn't understand it all, it looked too complicated, or maybe I wasn't motivated enough. Anyway, I didn't succeed.
And now you, who are not a professional, did succeed.
It always seems like everyone around me is always smarter than I am. But I complained about that before, and then you said that you don't care how smart I was, and that was real sweet of you, so I'm not going to complain about that again.

So, congratulations on your cool LJ look!
And I hope you don't get ill.

Well, it's really not that hard. Under the menu-bar's wonderful button "Manage" there's a button that appears (but can only be clicked on if you have IE or Netscape) that says "Customize".
From there on you can change the style of your journal, the colour scheme, or make your own colour scheme. The overwrites practically consist of "Number of entries on one page - default 20, overwrite: xx" and you can fill it in.

Good luck!

How about Mozilla?

In over a year of switching to OSX, I've never found a reason to bother with a GUI FTP client (well, except for a decent mget). And I haven't found a decent GUI client for Windows either.

Try WS_FTP, I use that at home. It's easy to use and works well and is free. You can find it easy using Google (http://www.google.com). The site where you can download it from is www.ipswitch.com (http://www.ipswitch.com).

I'm glad your back's better.
The flu sucks though - I've been on the verge off illness for days. Hope I slip down the correct side, as I'm looking forward to a great weekend...

hey sjeen..

the next time we see eachother.. remind me to explain you about css.
If you start using cascading stylesheets for sword and ink, updating will be so much faster because all you will need to do is take the text, add :use stylessheet bla die blah and upload.

I'm not kidding, it can be that easy.

I'd love to learn CSS. I've heard about them, and I've heard people about php and how handy it would be for me. singit!
Actually, right now I don't mind so much html'ing all that, it's just the fact that I know that one day there will be more than seven articles and two columns to lay-out. And by then, I could probably use the css.
Maybe Nokkie can help me. He speaks C++ and all that.
