And you give yourself away
Nov. 18th, 2003 02:19 pmSometimes I wonder what exactly it is, that makes me feel so much at home at a larp.
I think, it must be the people. Most people who attend larps are crazy, in a way. They have a similar sense of humour, love being outdoors, and aren't afraid to humiliate themselves when they play a role. And nobody, absolutely nobody, is giving somebody a hard time because they look or act different.
Another thing that's been brewing in my mind these past few days is about deja vu's. I've had several deja vu's when I was around people. But this weekend I had so many I realized something: I mainly have deja vu's when I am around larping people. Maybe their 'state of mind' or 'open mindedness' or the way they make me feel (at home) resonates. It's not really important where they come from. It does at times distract me from my play. I had one when I was walking Jazz with Malor a few weeks back, and another one with Malor at Dragonlair. I must have had 5 or 6 deja vu's in the last weekend. And one last night, when I was lying in NoKey's arms.
We watched Matrix Reloaded last night. Wooptie-fucking-doo. Two hour adrenaline rush!
I'm about to get up from this console and get going to Veenendaal again. I'll be back online somewhere next week when I'm back at NoKey's.

Date: 2003-11-18 06:52 am (UTC)Often when I return from a LARP I feel as though I'm walking around in a world full of strangers.
I then long for my family in the common room of the inn where it all took place...

Date: 2003-11-20 12:20 am (UTC)Talk about a cultureshock. My first reaction was "Nobody wears any weapons! How stupid! Orcs could attack any minute now!
That's when I caught myself and said "Janey, this is the real world. Orcs do not exist here."
*sigh*
