Sometimes I wonder what exactly it is, that makes me feel so much at home at a larp.
I think, it must be the people. Most people who attend larps are crazy, in a way. They have a similar sense of humour, love being outdoors, and aren't afraid to humiliate themselves when they play a role. And nobody, absolutely nobody, is giving somebody a hard time because they look or act different.

Another thing that's been brewing in my mind these past few days is about deja vu's. I've had several deja vu's when I was around people. But this weekend I had so many I realized something: I mainly have deja vu's when I am around larping people. Maybe their 'state of mind' or 'open mindedness' or the way they make me feel (at home) resonates. It's not really important where they come from. It does at times distract me from my play. I had one when I was walking Jazz with Malor a few weeks back, and another one with Malor at Dragonlair. I must have had 5 or 6 deja vu's in the last weekend. And one last night, when I was lying in NoKey's arms.

We watched Matrix Reloaded last night. Wooptie-fucking-doo. Two hour adrenaline rush!

I'm about to get up from this console and get going to Veenendaal again. I'll be back online somewhere next week when I'm back at NoKey's.

I agree. LARP people in general (with a few exceptions) are fun to have around, because they respect each other for what they are. Most of them either are nerds, or have been nerds in the past, or have felt like being a nerd. I hope I offend no one. But in my book there is no shame in being a nerd, that is, in being different than others and feeling left out.
And just because most LARPers have that in common, they sort of connect. That is what I think.

By the way, I didn't comment on a lot of your LJ entries, but I did read all of them.

That's allright, you don't have to respond to every single one of my entries. If I don't have anything useful to reply, I'd rather not reply. *wink*

I don't have that feeling with ALL larpers, but on the whole a LARP indeed creates a very homely feeling.
Often when I return from a LARP I feel as though I'm walking around in a world full of strangers.
I then long for my family in the common room of the inn where it all took place...

I once was dropped off from the larpsite, in a car with other larpers, whambamthankyoumam at Utrecht Central Station.
Talk about a cultureshock. My first reaction was "Nobody wears any weapons! How stupid! Orcs could attack any minute now!
That's when I caught myself and said "Janey, this is the real world. Orcs do not exist here."
*sigh*

Returning from a LARP event is kind of being plugged out of the Matrix and waking up in the real world, isn't it?
