Instead of stressing over making a Browncoat (see icon) I chose to spend my time relaxedly painting a Nerf gun. After all, once we unpacked the box of Nerf items we have (ready to paint, in some cases already partially base-coated or disassembeled or both) I realised that Hugo wasn't quite done yet.

Now that I spent some time working on this, I realise Ragar was right all along: it can be quite relaxing to spend your evening brushing just a tiny brush of two whole hairs of paint down the side of something plasticy. Now, I'm not saying I'm going to ever try Warhammer (I said that about chainmailing too, years back!)...

I entered the Games Workshop store. The other store I had found underway did not have any metallic paints...
"Hi, can I help you get started?" the guy behind the counter, named Thieme if his namesign was to be believed, asked.
I snorted. "Get started?" The guy didn't react. "Yeah, I need some paints to finish modding my nerfs." This can be a real show-stopper, if Conversation Participant does not speak fluent Gamernese.
"What colours would you like?" Thieme asked.
"Brassy Brass and Tinny Tin, if you have them. And Boltgun Metal..." I browsed the metallics, proving my point of not being a total n00b if I knew
Warhammer Paints by name
Only days later did I realise that this Thieme-I-sometimes-do-vampire-larp-Thieme was once Thieme-from-Judit-Thieme.

...but I really don't intend to get another hobby.

I'll leave you with some close-ups. You can see, Hugo has Gone Places and Kicked Their Asses While He Was At It.

Hugo

Hugo2

Note: Yes, Hugo is named after a certain Paladin of Ranaa. You see, this kind of big gun is very blunt, not very discreet, and pretty much silences any argument it gets involved in. So pretty much like [livejournal.com profile] cabaray's character.
And I mean that in the best possible way.
