Finished blazer pictures
Jun. 5th, 2016 01:11 pmSince I sewed the last buttons on yesterday we made some time to take a picture or two today. This first picture can double as a new profile picture for the Dolle Griet website and such. The fit from the front is impeccable.

Above is the picture I can show everywhere. Even if it's shot in my own kitchen, the light is good and the fit is great and the blazer is beautiful. But since this is my blog and this is where the real story is, you also get to see the lesser side:

The back is not fitting so well. Oh, the hip witdth is good and I didn't have to adjust the curve after all. But what is up with the back armscye / back width? There's oodles of fabric left over!
I think maybe I could have fitted that better, had I known this was going on. I never knew.
In any case, sewing-wise I am content and I'll be handing it in tomorrow. (I can adjust the fit somewhere in the summer, after I get my grade.) It's a pretty great winter blazer and it's nice and warm and the best part is that the itchy scratchy part of the wool doesn't bleed through the lining!
The fabric was bought years and years back in Rotterdam at Schröder, and I had initially intended it to be a pair of chique trousers. Now it's a blazer, and I hope to wear it happily for a long time to come.
