House Progress
Aug. 26th, 2011 08:54 amThis is turning into one of those bad soap opera's where every time the plot takes a turn, and the heroine gets left at the altar again you just want to shake your fist and shout "She might as well succeed for a change!"
Our next house will most likely be a cold, square Vinex-home, fresh from the builders, nothing to klus on it. At the rate this is going... I even get an icon 'special for these kinds of posts!
Yesterday afternoon was a rather unfortunate traffic gamble, with three out of six lanes of the Southbound A16 closed off right at the point where you can't sneak around, but by the time I'd retrieved the car it was mostly gone and I could drive to Tilburg with little delay. I arrived in the middle of a huge downpour which made me doubly happy that Lanzaned cleaned the roof and the plumber cleaned the drain. Oy.
As it was, the garden flailed as it was drowning, but I got inside without getting too wet.
The ceiling in Bedroom 2 was now dry so I proceeded to do the dishes, make some tea, and put tape over the newly painted white ceiling so it would be safe from the wallpaint we would use. Ah yes, there was a huge cupboard in this room as well. I got some newspapers to protect that and used some of my more cunning 3d shaping of paper tricks (who said pattern tracing is a useless skill!) to cover it up.
The room is now kind of yellow, with a beautiful white ceiling of course. I took some of the off-white paint and started with the bit of wall that's right up next to the ceiling above the huge sliding doors of the cupboard. Awwwww it's so pretty!
I slathered it on well, enjoying the easy going (NoKey was downstairs struggling with the heating pipes) and saw the light was already fading fast. (Memo to me: we can re-install the light in that room now that the ceiling is done). I decided to finish off my paint on the opposite wall. It's a tricky wall, hiding underneath windows and behind radiators, so a first coat would be good enough.
And just as I was very nearly done, lo and behold... the plaster stuck to my roller.
I guess this means the fun adventures with voorstrijk will continue...soon.
