This weekend was better than expected. Despite a fully-planned Friday and Saturday, I managed to get a lot done. But the main achievement of the weekend is that Lanelle is ready.

Friday afternoon, after doing oodles of homework (a blouse, two sleeves and I should have done a collar too but I'm saving that one for next week when I have the matching body because I need a measurement from that pattern), I hopped into Iota to drive to Pernis, dragging three full grocery shoppers with costume bits, furs, leather and crafting supplies with me.
Lanzaned was happy to see me, and we first crafted a bit. This involved both Lanzaned and Orothoniel wearing the leather tunic so I could see how the furs would hang. I handsewed rabbit furs onto the tunic. After that was finished we continued with dinner (lovely Chicken Madras, which is no doubt a Knorr meal but quite, quite yummy!) and roleplay.

At half past twelve, we were done: Lanelle is ready for the new setting. I'll require a bit of briefing just before I enter play on Fridaynight at the event itself, but the tabletop sessions have, sadly, come to an end.

I slept poorly that night, head still filled with roleplay things, and then got up early (7am) to go to Utrecht. We succeeded fairly well at the lapjesmarkt (fabric market) and bought fabric for Anarquendor banners. I also picked up some very, very thin embroidered linen-cotton which will be perfect for a summer top or summer dress (I got 4 meters). For which I can draft the pattern myself, teehee!

After the market Lyssa and I traipsed to the Brouwersmarkt, where we spent a fun hour or two shopping with the very fine gentlemen helping me out finding yeasts and seeds and waters and stuff.
And after the Almere trip and some juice at Lyssa's place I went to visit my mom for a cup of tea, but I was crashing so I made my way home early.

Sunday was quiet, but we spent a few hours at Steelweaver's birthday and had fun! The rest of the day was spent sewing on the add-ons for Lanelle's costume. I'm using two brown wool coupons with a green linen (that's got a bad dye-job, so it bleaches in stripes) as a wrap/cloak thingy (like Gandalf's cloak [alleycatscratch.com]), which drapes really well and can double as a blanket.
Lanelle's costume is wearable to the extent that I don't need to add any more layers over it. I still have to sew one or two pairs of tights for under the skirt, but I can do marvelous things with cycling pants and jersey capri pants, as my Thursdaynight cycling trip proved.

The costume now consists of a ragged skirt, two long tunics in varying lengths, a leather tunic with rabbit fur and a wrap that is only for at night. The rest of the things (a new scabbard, maybe a pouch or two, quiver, bow, tights, belt etc.) is not too much work or can be re-used from another costume.
I'm still waiting for my boots (ordered at DUO, should be arriving any week now), but I have a second pair I could use.

This leaves me free to start on Beriadanwen's new coat. The green thing I've been wearing for a while now is definitely starting to fall apart and with the IC leap year there's time enough for her to get something new. I've got green and brown suede, which I plan to make into a coat like Ragar has (black-grey pieced suede coat), but it's a lot of cutting bits and will require oodles of handsewing too. This, I can do.
I'm also pondering where it'll sit. For Omen, it'll be beneath my leather armour. For Drachenfest, probably beneath the chain mail. Possibly over it. I would like the sleeves to be detachable with lacing... So that'll take some processor time to figure out, draft and start creating. Curved seams are a challenge especially if you hand-punch your holes with an els (an awl with knife-like edges!) before sewing...

I am nearly done with Ank's lined black coat, and after that's done I'll continue with the shift and coat for Philene while I'm also working on Beriadanwen's coat. Handsewing is done in front of the DVD-player, after all.

And that was my weekend! Phew. Lots done, and some things crossed off my list!
