I survived my father's Christmas dinner alright. It was the usual fun & food, which is fine by me. I ate a lot of beans, and some of the roast which was salty but delicious. My father gave us each in turn (so kids and their spouses) € 100,- to spend at either Ikea or with a VVV-coupon. This is so cool! We need a new couch and spending those coupons might just be the final nudge we need. Besides, 200 euro goes a long way towards a good couch,

But this morning as I was getting up to take pictures of Awesome Icicle Climbing Our Flat (which doesn't seem to want to upload to Flickr) I noticed something weird.
I thought the wallpaper in there was yellow, not camel?

That pile of junk right next to the window is our Raid-5 server, with a stereo music installation and a printer on top. This is probably the worst place to get leakage! Also... it's the atelier-side of the house!

Let's hope the frost will hold, because thawing is the worst that could happen right now. We'll have to call people on Monday.

That looks like an incentive for a house hunt. When did you say your current house will get demolished?

Good luck with staying dry this weekend.

Looks like a good place for a fungus problem coming spring.
Maybe impregnating the wall on the outside with some damp proofing?

Dunno if there's anyone living above and/or below you, but better to check if the same problem exists there.

Hope nothing (besides the wall) gets damaged.

From the outside it looks like the wall starts leaking at about the height of the top of the window. There's icicles all down the outer wall from our apartment. For now, the floor of the atelier is dry, but if it starts thawing, we'll be in for some real trouble. Flat roof + leakage + hella lotta snow = mayhem.

That looks nasty! That is also a serious amount of ice I see. It could have caused some gaps in the building structure.

But the gifts your father gave are nice. 200 euros is a nice push towards a new couch. ^_^

Don't we all love winter?
My brother said that in his house they also have a leak, resulting in water dripping from the roof into the room of a housemate and down from there into the kitchen. The fix? The people that rent out the house wiped the snow off the roof.... that's it. (It's up for demolition, you don't want to see/smell their degrading bathroom...)

Good luck with the wetness and have fun finding a new couch. :D
