(Ok, maybe I have been watching too much Grey's Anatomy...)

As I was weaving on a purple trim in diamonds and chevrons, I realised my work was off-center. No wonder, as the right half of my work only had seven cards, and the left half had nine...

Time to graft two extra cards into the weave!

Off-center

I divide my cards into packs. Two cards of border on each side (S and Z against one another). Nine cards to the left and only seven to the right half. Colour-coded cards help keep track of what's what.

Adding cards

I add two threaded cards to the loom and tie the ends together seperately from the rest.

Finished

After a few turns, the "graft" is part of the weave. I place a spacer (a business card) in the weave so the next bit is the "for real" part.

That's a really good idea. I 'm pretty sure I would have called it a day upon finding out it was asymmetrical. So good on you for keeping at it and finding a solution.

It was actually a tip from the book I bought earlier this year for when one of your warp threads broke. You just add another over the old one and snip it off close after the weave is finished.

Your weaving looks awesome, but so complicated.

Actually, this pattern is really simple to set up (and fast! You can use the fast-warp method on the loom: just thread all the cards at once (going through the cards all the cards at once with the beginning and end of the ball of yarn), and 'drop' one card after each wrap around the loom. It's easier to do when you've got a separate ball of yarn for each hole, but I made do with two balls of yarn. It just keeps twisting into a knot).

It's also a boring pattern. Get's boring after one or two diamonds. The original set-up was wider, but I failed at making that work.
