Italian shirts are so hot right now. Especially the high-collared kind. I was wondering if I could adapt one of those men's shirts to fit me, when I found this:

From: Italianluxury.nl (I have no idea if this site is any good...)

Since this is absolutely gorgeous, I'd order it in a heartbeat, not even bothering to look at the € 90,- pricetag.
However....

They're made in Italy, where everyone is tiny. The website claims they're adapted to fit Dutch sizes, but I've never been Dutch-sized either. I'm more of a freak German/Swiss Helga-breed. Long, gangly arms and a long torso, throwing off any front dart.

I'll just have to make puppy-eyes towards [livejournal.com profile] anemoona or wait until I can draft my own blouse patterns.

ETA: their largest size is still a size L in Dutch sizing. What shirt shop uses S, M, L, XL for their sizes anyway?!
*sighs and stares at the pretties some more...*

Ik heb een blousepatroon wat je wel zou passen, waar je zo'n kraag op kan zetten. Ik zal het vanavond eens opzoeken voor je.

I seldom wear blouses, because it is so darn hard to find a fitting one. Although I am an Italian size, my shoulders apparently are foreign import...

Italian fashion doesn't provide for jiu-jitsu-size shoulders, my dear.

Loooove the blouse...unfortunately...I'm always too short for those kind of things, making me look as if I pulled daddy's blouse on...

Ok, dillemma.

I thoroughly recommend this book -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shirtmaking-Developing-Skills-Fine-Sewing/dp/1561582646/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1285279545&sr=1-3

Ignore the second negative review, they are talking out of their arse. You will need to find and adjust a nice womens shirt pattern, but there are plenty out there. Then have fun!

I recently ordered this book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Couture-Sewing-Techniques-Claire-Schaeffer/dp/0942391888/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1285314501&sr=8-1-fkmr1) from a Dutch web book shop because I don't have a credit card and Amazon doesn't accept Paypal.

I'll have to add this Shirtmaking book to my wish list as well!

ETA: They have it at Bol.com, so I ordered it right away!
