Part of the deal with staying in a hotel is that you get to spend € 25,- for a dinner. It suffices for a drink or two, an entree and a main course.

I realise a review will always be a snapshot, except when you return regularly to a restaurant. And I'm not the only colleague who goes out for dinner; I usually meet up with Yvonne, René and Arduin from the testteam upstairs for dinner as they sleep in the same hotel I did. This time, we went to the same restaurant as we did on Monday.
What a difference!

On Monday, I had the Gyoza as an entree, and ordered the Tepanyaki salmon as a main course. I wanted to eat something light, and the salmon was exquisite. We sat outside in the sun, and everything was shiny. The waiters were not very visible and I only drank one glass of iced tea, but that was fine. They were a bit chagrined about us each wanting a receipt (so we could get the money from Sogeti) but everything worked out well when we asked the manager.

Yesterday, however, we had a much worse experience.
We sat outside in the sun again, and I ordered bread as an entree and cha sieuw as a main course, with nasi on the side. The drinks were ordered as well, but because a waitress dropped her tray there was a mix-up with the drinks.
Hey, I'll drink coke if you can't get me my ice tea, that's fine. No biggy.

Then we waited for a long time to get our entrees. By the time they arrived we were really hungry, but the food was good.
Then we waited for a really long time again. The waiters were all non-existent, and when finally one came to get our empty plates, I was tempted to answer her obligatory "did you enjoy your entrees" with "I can't remember."

When our main course finally arrived, I asked the waiter to take the empty glasses away. One glass which had held a beer had been on the table when we arrived and nobody had bothered to remove it. I'd placed the empty glasses to the side of the table, so they could see they needed to remove the glasses, but nobody did so. And the waiter I asked for this very small service (which is his job) protested "I only deliver plates with food."
Grudgingly, he took the glasses along. We joked perhaps the barman would curse at him for *gasp* bringing an empty glass on the return journey to the kitchen. After all, why hold something when you can walk empty-handed, right?

I didn't enjoy my cha sieuw, since there was so much salt in it. Yvonne, who is on a hunger-diet like Atkins, ate all her cha sieuw. But then she breakfasts with salad with a few very thin slices of chicken or fish.

And then we waited some more. Arduin went inside to ask for the bill, but the waiters didn't clear the dishes away, didn't ask if we'd enjoyed our meal or even if we wanted a dessert. Probably just wanted us bad, nasty customers to go. When Renés receipt flew away because of the strong winds, one of the waiters dared say "that's not my problem".

Jinso, ArenA Boulevard, Amsterdam.

Bizarre this Experience.

This is so totally not the Jinso Anastaszia and I know from our visits there.
Usually when we go to the movies we allways try to choose a movie in the Arena because it gives us an excuse to eat at Jinso's.
But this doesn't sound like a day off for them but like a really downturn in quality.

Very disappointed in them.

It was like the manager took all the good waiters out for a night on the town. Terrible, terrible service. Mouthing off to the customers? Twice, by two different people?
