Yesterday around noon I threw a heap of thread, ribbons, scissors and other sewing appliances into my backpack, fiddled my sewing machine into one of the bags on my bike and set out to Nieuwerkerk. Meeting up at BigBoss and Anita's place, there were some good craftsy people coming in, including [livejournal.com profile] armhart, [livejournal.com profile] nachtvisser, [livejournal.com profile] alhandra_s, [livejournal.com profile] anastaszia, [livejournal.com profile] erwin_l and Askie. Fun! There was one table where we could set up the sewing machines, and Anastaszia and Shurf worked on an order while the rest of us focused on costumes and props for the coming weekend.

Nachtvisser and Armhart worked on silly hats for various props and monsters, and Alhandra and I focused on the norse/viking dress inspired dresses. Sewing a simple medieval dress was easy enough, Alhandra having made herself a new kirtle just recently. We made an apron-tube and added strings of beads to the front. A wrap or shawl was made for both these costumes as well, using blue ribbon and red edelweiss ribbon.

Around ten pm we were all very tired, several people had already left, but I wanted to finish everything that night so I pulled through and finished the last apron-dress. Everyone was very pleased with the results (dressing up Anita in the dress is one of the best moves to make, since it was very inspiring to see how far we'd gotten already!) and we drank a well-deserved glass of rosé.

Now I just have to finish this other monster's costume for Maerquin, but I think I might go gardening today. I really need to get my balcony in order before spring takes over in full swing!
