Velvet curtains
Mar. 12th, 2010 10:26 amOne day, when I've grown up and we buy a real house with real curtains they will be velvet.
Because even after ripping apart the most hideously discoloured, puked-upon, snotty red dust-ridden mothballs of velvet curtains, you can still see that I can make something beautiful out of them.
And I just can't help but remember
anemoona's plight of having red velvet curtains three houses in a row and having to buy new ones each times, because her windows just keep getting bigger.
It's also very sad to realise I still have lovely deep red cotton velvet (of €15,- per meter) on a roll here, and that it would be so much better to use that, but they can't afford it. It's just a monster costume and they have these curtains and that'll do for this event.
Considering the amount of fluff generated, I can't make up my mind whether wool or velvet is worse for the machines. I'm guessing velvet, since it leaves more mess lying around than the concrete revamping of our back yard does.
I really need to run the vacuum cleaner through here...
First half of the curtains has been washed now. After I've created the costume I'll probably end up washing it again with a package of Dylon Rosewood, to get that lucious colour back.
Work, work, work.
