"Duty is heavier than a mountain..."

I contacted Bob today on MSN -- and if I hadn't I'd have called him tonight. The weather forecast for this weekend is dreadful. Predicted maximum temperature is 0°C, with a wind of 3 Beaufort to boot. We'll be having the Anarquendor special in the forest, so the wind might not bother us so badly, but the lack of sanitation combined with the fact that most of our costumes aren't fit for this winter weather and snow weighed heavily on my mind.

I was glad to speak to Bob, who asked me if the other Anarquendor felt thesame. I invited Nathreee into the discussion, who'd spoken to Gwen, who now works at the company she works as too. I doubt Leona will be disagreeing with us that it'll be too cold. I can't speak for NoKey, but I know he's ofter bothered by the cold much sooner than I am. Keffie told me he wanted to cancel D&D, not go to the G&F Fair just to make sure he'd have enough energy on Sunday since he isn't 100% yet.

Bob wouldn't take my "maybe" and "probably" and wanted an un-nuanced answer. So I said 'no'. With the note that I can't expect to be making this decision for all the Anarquendor. In truth, it's a decision for all the Anarquendor as I doubt they'll be going on this special mission without their captain and main healer.

As soon as I took the decision to say no, I felt very sad. I know I'm protecting myself and others from freezing temperatures, undercooling, possible bladder infections and of course a long day of fun. I can probably stay warm for somewhere around three hours in my costume, but not for a whole day. I fear pneumonia.

Sad, sad, sad. I took the right decision, but that doesn't make it an easy decision to make.
I'm sorry kenshinichinyo and omdathetkan. I'm very loyal, but I need to look out for my own health as well. I hope you won't hold it against me.


ETA: I feel really bad about this decision. I know I did the right thing for me. I know I'm not the only one. I know more than half of the Anarquendor think it's too cold to go out. But I feel really bad about this decision. Just because you're right, doesn't mean it's easy. =(

Pittig, maar een slimme beslissing als je je team blaasontsteking en koulijen wil besparen. Een aantal jaar geleden heb ik om die reden als Leviathan-dude nog een special laten verplaatsen naar een terrein met binnenlocatie en keuken. De CS greep direct naar het 'larpen is afzien' praatje, maar was na zes uur mintemperaturen trotseren ontdooide ook hij na een goede kop koffie en een haardvuurtje...
