What did you do on the Sunday after Xmas?
Dec. 28th, 2009 09:51 amWelll...
We played D&D! It was another good session, though a bit short. Keffie and Leona dropped in around six and I baked pancakes for us all. Leona insisted on watching an episode of Dollhouse as soon as she found out we had Season 2.
So we didn't start really early, and despite the holidays we didn't go on until late at night, but it was a good session nonetheless. There's some disturbing things happening, Keffie's puzzles puzzling the hell out of us, and now Mariel's found a room with all sorts of statues and sigils, and the only one that's not represented is her. Of course, Sir Jean being in one room with the newer gods and having his own paladins is disturbing on a whole seperate level.
Since last Wednesday we also used, and excuse me if I got the term wrong, a battle board. I took the liberty of using the mini's
ozjish once painted for me as characters on the board. Where I claimed the one elf swordsman, Leona and Melvin took the elven bowmen, leaving Keffie the big black ork brute for Sir Jean. Very fitting.

I tried to take some pictures too. I love how the dice are nearly as big as the minis!

We started out on the magical plane but might have crossed over or went through a barrier. We're definitely underground in some sort of dungeon and there were all sorts of baddies. I used scales to represent them (the large gold scale is Leona's familiar (white tiger) Flow, and the miniscule red d6 is Melvin's familiar (tiny pseudodragon) Aethelinda).
I love the mess, and the story it tells, and the promise of adventure it spells out for us. Lovely!
Hope to play again soon, but in two days Leona will be celebrating her birthday, so next Wednesday's D&D session is off.
I also realise I really have to start writing again on the story. Let's see how the new year's new rythm will go. I hope to spend a lot more time in the gym, and on those nights I probably shouldn't be sewing. I might spend an hour writing. My head's been a sieve, and getting the story down on paper (thank goodness for mp3 recordings of our sessions!) will make me remember all those little details about the plot that we really need in order to get to the end of the story... although we'll get there, one way or the other.

Date: 2009-12-28 12:56 pm (UTC)Please note oversized bronze-coloured D20 next to the glass on the left.
That one's stainless steel as well, with a coating.
You can roll some real damage with that one (approximate weight = 150g)!
