Inspi-stripes
Dec. 6th, 2009 05:58 pmWhen I pulled a certain fabric from my cupboard I was glad to notice that it still inspired me after such a long time. Even if some people considered it to be hideous. Stripes can be very unforgiving, but when used right...it's awesome.
In any case, after cutting out my garment I decided to use the most irregularly shaped piece to cut some bias tape. The stripes will be the lining, and though I'm still debating whether to use the bias tape as trim or as edging for the (solid coloured linen) cloak, the bias tape is rocking:

The best part about striped bias tape is that you can hide your seams in the stripes. And seeing this makes me realise that the person who made a gentleman's tie from the age-old cravat might have had my sense ofeuthanasia enthusiasm for stripes.
I feel ready for striped silks, but that's a project for some other day.
Meanwhile, Sinterklaas has buggered back off to Spain, there's a huge bouquet of roses in our livingroom, and I've been eating far too much chocolate this weekend.
