Ever since tasting chestnuts, I'm a fan. And I read that the Netherlands is not rich in chestnut trees. Since I gathered so many chestnuts, I spread them around at the Inca terrain in Uden, hoping nature takes it course, and I planted some at home. Thank you [livejournal.com profile] woran for that great idea!

So far, only 25% of chestnuts has sprouted:

In other news, the mint plant we took to Omen (same Inca terrain) had contracted lice, and perhaps, though we can't be sure, it's affected the paprika plant. We've managed to heroically save the paprika from the autumn weather by placing the planter inside. It promptly started to produce flowers (and I'm still waiting for NoKey to get meticulous with his Q-tip of fertilization).

But now it's contracted lice. And though I've looked, there's not a ladybug in sight, of course. They're all hiding because of the weather.

Lice in my paprika!

The lice just look like an evil, super-man version of lice. With a yellow and black striped, wasp-like spandex sweater.

We'd banished the mint outside for a while, but there are still lice on it, and now that we've banished the paprika back to the balcony it'll be a race to see who dies first: the lice or the plant. Paprika likes warm, calm weather. Not 9°C, wind and rain.

Man, I sure hope that the lice don't go over to our other plants. I really love my Dracaena Draco...

When my mint plant got lice I threw it away. I've heard that spaying with a soapy solution (dishsoap and water) helps, but I don't want soapy mint tea. o_O
