Survival of the coldest.
Oct. 18th, 2009 10:25 pmWhoever thought larping in October is fun, should try a camping trip to a field somewhere near Nijmegen during new moon on cloudless nights.
Whisky, three oil lamps and a primus, and four wrapped-up bodies in one tent could not get the thing warm. And that was when we were having fun. When we went to bed, two people left and we had to turn the primus off or suffocate.
On the upside: survived another larp without hypothermia! Go us!

Date: 2009-10-20 10:37 am (UTC)Matthijs and I slept well enough. The recipe:
2 airbeds next to eachother (quite small... and not very high)
2 fleece/fake-fur blankets
4 sheep skins
2 zipped together sleeping bags with -7 - + 7 comfort zone
2 more fleece/fake-fur blankets
Wear a pyama and a scarf around your head and neck. And bring your SO with you to bed. ;-)
No problems! (Except when one night you forget to drag the two top blankets over yourself... we woke up from cold to do that later..)
And you know that booze only gives the illusion of warmth and that you're actually loosing more body heat, right?

Date: 2009-10-20 11:16 am (UTC)- 2p airbed.
- patchwork blanket (http://pics.livejournal.com/janestarz/pic/00075a50/g18) (wool, backed with linen)
- Double-folded 2layer fleece cloak under our feet, and a double-folded wool cloak under our torsos
- reindeer hide under our feet as well
- sleeping bags, comfort -10
- dekbed!!!
When I moved, I was warm enough, but my sleeping bag hardly allows for freedom of movement.
