Sandraider Undressed -- Castlefest!!

janestarzWho could believe time would go so fast. Tomorrow, tomorrow already, it's time for Castlefest. And maybe it's just because I haven't got a whole store to organise, I am really looking forward to it.
So here's the best song to get into the mood for Castlefest, the Official Castlefest trailer from the 2007 DVD. Pop on the music and look beneath the cut for my costume.
Striped pants, thin linen blouse with cuffs, calf-length boots to keep the sand out. The pants make me look fatter than I am. The stripes are awesome, but you won't see the pants unless I walk. This is the reason I do Undressed Diaries... to show you the layers!
Second layer: brown linen coat. The off-white linen is two layers thick because otherwise the brown would show through. For this reason I hand-hemmed it with a herringbone stitch. A machine stitch would create a quilted effect.
The brown stripe is twill tape. There are twenty big gold buttons on the bottom part of the coat.
Third layer: leatherworks.
Armour and bracers. The armour has scalemail pieces attached. I can't put on the armour if I'm already wearing the bracers.
Nice detail: the sleeves of the coat hang a little crooked in the previous picture. The armscye of the leather armour keep it in exactly the right spot! The scalemail piece mirrors the sleeve contrast perfectly.
Last layers. I like the hijab-wrapping on the right best. The left (Yasser-)way of wrapping it makes my head looks pea-sized.
Tomorrow I'll be going alone, as NoKey is not joining me. I'm rather sceptical about the trip, as I'm taking the train and I'll be dressed as my dryad, though with a little less make-up. I'm thinking I'll do the make-up en route. I'll stand out enough as it is, wearing half an oak tree. The Sandraider costume is for Saturday and possibly Sunday, when Ragar will be joining me.
So is there anyone going to Castlefest who'd like to meet up for the trip (Rotterdam CS -> Leiden -> Hillegom) or for the day?

It means we'll be in Hillegom after the faire has opened, but I hope to skip some of the crowds this way.

Date: 2009-07-31 08:06 am (UTC)I'm not sure yet if we'll be going to Castlefest, but if we do it will be on Sunday. Today is a workday and tomorrow I celebrate my b-day for family.
The reason that it's not sure yet is that we are working on an upgrade for our sahara tent and it has to be finished for the summoning. But there's still so much to do!
Anyways, do enjoy your trips. :)
