I don't have enough fabric! Need at least 15 cm in the width and at least an additional meter in length for the wool.
The secondary fabric I have is blue cotton. It's also slightly too narrow for the sleeves and also at least 10 cm too narrow for the side gore - which has now officially become the bane of my existence. And I can't seem to figure out how to down- or upscale the side gore either since the thing is just so darned impossible to visualize.

I don't have time to order new fabrics from e-bay. If I can't figure this out I'll have to buy new fabric at Schröder, which is expensive.
*sighs deeply*
Let's see if I can make this thing work...a slightly narrower side gore should not be a problem and I can live with the sleeves being a tad shorter in the back...

EDIT: It's not going to work. I would lose two thirds of the width of the side gore and would have to eliminate the turning gore altogether. I.e.: not a good idea. I'll just buy 10 yards of something pretty at Schröder and try again. *sigh*

Wait! If you eliminate the train and make it only ankle-length, won't you have enough? You can actually skip the side gores entirely if you like. It'll not have a lot of drape to the tie-backs, but it's possible.

I don't have any train - I'm just a huge woman. Tall.
Maybe I will do that for the blue cotton. It needs to fade into the background and white shows all the stains.

I've bought a creamy white wool as a replacement - 10 meters of it. If that's not enough, nothing will be. Main question is: will white work for a mantua, or is white "reserved" for underwear in the 17th century still? I can recall some 18th century ladies wearing white chemise dresses, but 17th?
It is really quite lovely with the pink and the stays!

You're only a few inches taller than me though...

Anyway, most of the pictures we have of common women wearing mantuas aren't coloured, so we have no idea what colours they wore or didn't wear. I wouldn't pick white, but I have an aversion to pink as well. ;)

I really think it's going to be a lovely colour combination!

The pink was sort of... well... meant to give people the idea that I'm just an innocent girl. The outfit will be recycled for Maerquin, where I'll wear a different headgear and possibly the blue mantua. (Blue + baby pink = teh win!)

But first, lets get this white one assembled!
