So, I'm working again. On a Sunday. It's not that bad, since 'work' entails mostly waiting for my orders to go through. Concurrent requests take a while and I need to run at least four per order.

So in short, fifteen minutes after getting to work I had worked my way through my friends list and Slashdot and I'm getting bored. It's Sunday so there's really not that much to do online (and it's a sad, sad day when you realise you know when Internet is busy, and when it isn't), and I need some distraction!

- I need to make up my mind on what to order from Reconstructing History. If any of you need some stuff, mail me! Steelweaver came over yesterday, but the rest of you might want some RH stuff too! I want to send this order out tomorrow or Tuesday, so be quick!
(and while you're online, do update your journal so I've got something to read as well)

- I needs moar medieval garb. I'm still looking for a lovely painting with maybe some surcote or gates of hell dress I can reproduce in ochre and teal. *sigh*
Perhaps Steelweaver's suggestion of Venetian dress isn't so bad after all. Reed works really well and the shape will suit me.

I can always go do some Skillport modules, but they're not that interesting. I mean, it's nice to learn PERL but it doesn't learn very fast if you can't try it out.

That sucks... going to work on sunday and when you are there, there is nothing to do!
I did a lot of sewing this weekend, I just finished the blouse for my father-in-law (when Maurice gets home with the camera, I'll make a picture. The blouse turned out super, I hope he likes it). Now I'm going to do some cleaning, and when there is time left I start drawing the pattern for the blouse for my mother-in-law. The last weekend of August there is a medival festival in Manderscheid (Germany), and we are all going there, dressed up. I'm really looking forward to it.

Well, there is something to do. It's just that our work isn't fast or interesting. We just have to wait for a while, then click something, and then the system will be busy running a concurrent request - which takes 20 minutes today (I timed it, and it's ridiculous. There's three of us on our environment so it should be lightning-fast!!!)

Don't you just love finishing projects? I hope your father-in-law likes the blouse! I'm curious for the pictures though.
I spent a lot of time working on my stays yesterday and binding them is really hard. I have a lot of scratches from the pins! But I'm down to the last handsewing, and then I just have to do two last eyelets and they're done!

I used to do handsewing while waiting for batches to run. I used to work on a computer with no internet connection, so I couldn't chat when there was a long time to wait.

I feel your pain about the boredom. Sometimes I have tons of things to do, but I'm bored out of my skull. And that will be the day when no one is on LJ or chat or email or... It happened a lot when Pennsic was going on.

The stays are now so big, cumbersome and unbendable that I dread to take them along. Also: they're white and as such can get really dirty very soon if they poke out just a little bit.

At least you guys can keep me busy. And Newgrounds flash games are a good second.

I've found that a spot of music always helps keeping me awake and happy. Not sure what the company policy is on music, but i always bring a headset and just plug in, connect to my home ftp / shoutcast server / webserver and pick some music to listen to.

Or else there's always youtube, though i'd block that if i were the sysadmin at sogeti, as i get the impression you have ample colleagues whom wouldn't mind slacking off during work hours, as opposed to having to fill wait times.

(Btw, they actually closed off the outgoing ssh port? You can always get putty and just SSH to a home machine to practice with perl)

Outgoing ssh is a big no-no. Can't get out at all.

YouTube: been there done that. It gets old after a while. You'd really want to do something intelligent at some point.

There's actually a few good documentaries online there, which are somewhat more intelligent. I'd still like to propose Randy Pausch' last lecture / time management.
