Another sneak preview of my stays. I took time off from the Jedi outfit I should be sewing to do the eyelets on the stays.



Gotta love that eyelet plate! I used 5mm RVS rings for extra support.

I'm still not too happy with the performance of my sewing machine. It's just been to the shop for an overhaul and it still skips stitches every now and then. This becomes more apparant when you're stitching eyelets.
It also developed another nasty habit: the needle locks up in the down position and won't go down any more. My fear is that the spool is out of synch with the needle. This would explain both the skipped stitches as the needle locking up. Annoying that they didn't fix it at the shop though.

I'll be spending most of the rest of the evening (and week) working on that Jedi outfit, followed by manesni's outfit. I will be working tomorrow, so hello! Stress.
At least I can bind my stays in public transport, right?

Where did you buy that eyelet plate? I want one, but I can't find it. Do you know where I should look for it?

The eyelet plate is a separate accessoiry for your sewing machine. Not every sewing machine has one, but some are interchangable (for example: newer models Husqvarna have an eyelet plate that might fit onto an older model). Mine was on of 200+ accessoiries I could order with my Pfaff Performance. This is of course a very new sewing machine. Of course, Husqvarna plates won't fit onto Pfaff machines :(

The internet (ebay) and of course your sewing machine dealer can help you out!

In addition, from what I've seen, the Husq plate is more likely to fit another sewing machine with minor modding of the throat plate, if you're feeling lucky/ambitious.
