My hair is terrible. It's long enough to annoy me during the night by getting stuck in my armpits when I roll over. Not a nice way to wake up, I can tell you. So I braid it at night and it doesn't get stuck. As a result it looks like an exploded puppy during the day. I bet the weather makes stuff worse - statically charged wool winter coat + hair = a mess.

I'm torn between two new haircuts, and I can't even conceive what either will look like on me.
First off is a perm like Nia Vardalos who is very Greek and looks fabulous and we all know from My Big Fat Greek Wedding (one of the main reasons we eloped, because yes, my mother would, despite NoKey's heavy arsenal of deadly and illegal weaponry around the house).
However, if my hair frizzes now, I don't want to know what it will do when I have a perm in it - nor the amount of gel needed to keep it under control.

The other thing I like is something like Téa Leoni wore in Bad Boys. Short - so it will get rid of the last lingering red henna at the roots. It will also get rid of the distaster Detti cut my stepmother gave me last year. And will eliminate everything that's dead. It also grants some pretty easy styling options. Secretly, I like the idea of an elf with short, preppy hair.

I sure as hell am not going back to Mario's and my stepmother doesn't get another chance at screwing my hair up. So, Wout Rombout is the other close option. I'm willing to give it a try.

Help me pick one!
NoKey's going to kill me. But help me!

I need to take a full frontal picture with my hair pulled back and 'try on' some hairstyles in Photoshop.
I've had long hair since I was twelve. But really, I hardly do anything with it. The only reason I don't want to cut it off is because my father and stepmother will go "it's about time you grew up and cut it off".

I wouldn't go for a perm if I were you. I had a perm once and the first 3 weeks it was fun. It looks nice and it didn't took me long to get it that way (I am not the person to spend 30 minutes everymorning on grooming my hair). After the first weeks it went downhill. In some parts of my hair I lost the curl so they become straight again (and longer than the rest) It looked very silly. The hairdresser (kapper?) told me that was normal, in some parts of your hair the perm is better than in other parts. I was glad that after 2 months you could hardly see that I had a perm.

That is good to know. I need a low-maintenance haircut. So, you think short + in layers might be a good idea? I could add a bit of a wave (een slag, erg grof permanent) to add some Swung to it?

Long hair permanents really don't work very well. If you have the hairlenght you do, it will never be as curly as in the picture, and look a bit unnatural. Also it won't hold long, is bad for your hair and might not even work at all. I'd advice something in between, layers to shoulderlenght, hairdressers can make waves, to create nice and flowy hair, which looks slightly curly.

Hope you can make up your mind!

Even in het Nederlands. da's iets makkelijker.

It is not always true that perms don't stick on long hair. I had a perm (like the greek lady) when I was about 17 and it stayed for over a year. My hair was slightly shorter than it is now and they used two bottles of perming fluid. But my hair is strange that way. It does not take a change simply, but once it does, it sticks. Same with colouring. It takes a lot of paint, but stays in rather long (untill I dye it again or it gets cut off).

I have thought about cutting it shorter some times as well. But the problem with that is, that once you go really short, it is hard to get it longer again. That's why I won't.

If I were you, I would not go for the perm. Or try a head full of curls for a day (rollers at night and lots of foam) to see how it looks first.
I think layers and shorter would look great, but do consider the fact that getting length back is hard work.

Love, Judith :)

Your hair is very thick, so it's no surprise you need a lot of dye or perm fluid. My hair doesn't keep any kind of shape except the exploded-kitten one.
I'm really quite tempted to try something fun, but I'm afraid I'll miss my long hair. Or that it feels too good to be liberated.

*sigh*

I personally like the short option best, it seems more you. Ymmv, though.

I've personally been thinking of going carrothead but hair dye usually works out rather meh on my Teflon type hair. I have this photo of me and the kitty which colourshifted a bit, giving me red hair and it looks glorious...
