So I went to Paris to see my mom there. She was en route with the Roparun to cook for the runners. Luc picked my up at midnight on thursday. Somewhere in Belgium I dozed off, to wake somewhere near the border with France. There were 'gendarmeries' (police) checking passports. [hello? European Union ring a bell?] And I realised I forgot mine. I can tell you exactly where it is. But I didn't bring it. Luckily they let us drive on without glancing at us and I dozed off again.
We arrived at 5 am on Friday, when it was still dark. We found a place to put the car, and if they arrived, the runner's bus. Then we walked to the entrance of the park and waited for the bus of team 27 to arrive. We called my mother to tell her we were just getting away from my place. But we were already there.
So the buss finally arrived, and we jumped inside.
"Hi, we're looking for Petra"
"She lying over there, sleeping" the chauffeur pointed. So I stepped on some bags and tapped her awake
"Heeeej, are you here already" My mom said when she finally woke up. She was very sleepy and I was surprised she could think. She didn't expect us at all to be there already, so she was sooooooo surprised.
We had some fun there, they finished after 40.23.45 (fourty hours, twentythree minutes, and 45 seconds) the 560 kilometre walk. They were sooooo tired.
That night, after we found a hotel and bathed and napped (oooohhhh naps!) we barbequed with the team and this morning we set off to Holland again.
When we drove into a parking lot en route, for coffee, we saw a yellow bus! They were there too! (speak of the devil...)We had seen a lot of dutch buses and trucks, all with the distinct markigns of "Ropa Run" or "Team..." but it was such a coincidence to pull into the same lot together.
We arrived back at my mom's house at 4 or something this afternoon. Mom and Luc just unpacked the bus and I cooked rice for them. Then, we watched Moulin Rouge (which is quite an okay film I suppose) and now we're going for a bit of drink and a lot of nap.
Tomorrow, Jan will come over. It's my birthday tomorrow! [eeeek! Twenty!
