I need some expert opinions. I'm going to wear this outfit to the Archeon open, where NoKey will be shooting bow.

Blue linen underdress, squares-and-triangles. Mid front it has a gap with ladder-laced wool braid (yah, I know, but I can't spinn worth a damn).
Brown linen overdress with orange keyhole neckline. Wide flaring sleeves that are lined in orange and pinned up. Again squares-and-triangles. Pinned up hem: [livejournal.com profile] steelweaver's pin.
Coif: made by NoKey. I have a similar one, but it's not done yet. I hate barbettes.
Apples: too pink and rosey, but they set the mood nicely and match my horrible pimples.

I forgot to take off my socks, watch and bra for these pictures, but hey, they're taken in the livingroom. I did remember to take off my ring. *sigh* At least the watch doesn't show.

When you're finished laughing, I'd love to hear comments, additions and critique on this garb. I've still got time and linen aplenty to change this outfit to something historically correct, and am more than willing to sew an entire dress by hand. So, gimme all your critique!

I think you need more apples :P

love the clothing though :) (although I say it'd look better on me! :P)
not really much of a critique person so I can't really say more than that I like it

You know, it probably would fit you too, but the hem would be trailing on the ground.
What am I saying, it does for me, even.

Yay for apples!

I also like. Maybe something round the cuffs of the blue underdress, like embroidery or something to touch it off. But don;t change ANYTHING else, it looks very nice.
And would love to know where you got the fabrics. I can never get drape right unless I am using starched linin, and that only ever comes in blinding white.

I have a white cotton (for shame!) underdress to go underneath the blue one but it might be a bit too tight. It's a good thing the blue one stretches a bit. I could turn the sleeves back and have a white cufflet. What I really need for inspiration is medieval paintings or fashion plates (that did not exist back then) for reference. It's so hard to find lower class outfits in paintings of that era...

Well, I don't know anything about historically correct, but I'm not so certain about the colour of the underdress. The colour reminds me a bit of jeans, but hey, that could just be me.

I wish you wouldn't worry so much about your "horrible pimples" though. I'm sure Nokey has told you a thousand times that it really doesn't matter that you don't have a perfectly smooth skin. Really, if someone is going to make a problem out of that, there's something wrong with that person, not with you.

I don't worry about my horrible pimples. It would be a bit weird for three people to worry about my features, and I think my mother and father worry enough. My mother goes as far as asking her beautician (whom I never have met or if I did, I can't recall) for some creams and smears to put on my face. My father exclaimed "what's that on your face?" in a horrified voice when last he saw me. I replied it was my nose. But with him, it's never good. I'm always too fat, too disappointing, and not interested in the finer things in life: success, a good job, and a car.

I am different and because I am different people bug me. They ask me silly questions like "don't you want to have a car then?". I hate it when people ask me questions because I'm different. They don't really care about the answers anyway. Just because I'm different doesn't mean I'm not a nice person.

My pimples get me sad sometimes. I know they're closely tied with my eating habits and every time I eat greasy foods it gets worse. But mostly, I don't care.
