Your Curiosity Is Desired
Jul. 20th, 2007 01:58 pmI need some people with various browsers to help test the new Dolle Griet website.
Yesterday Ragar came over with the graphical interface. The css file that went with it was forbidden (no permissions whatsoever) and the person who coded the whole thing is on holiday.
This does not seem to affect the performance of the site.
Also, the html I found in the pre-generated pages is messy at best. Lots of spans and /spans and other html I half-understand. Besides this, I've seen the site in Konqueror, Firefox, and IE and none of the views are satisfactory. The flash animation at the top of the page (not unlike the Castlefest website) refuses to work, which is all Konqueror's fault. Firefox had a border around the link at the top of the page, which might be attributed to the missing css file. I manually fixed that yesterday.
Internet explorer so far yielded the worst results. Borders around the frames, the links of the navigation not opening in the right frame, and no way to have a sneak peek at the source code since it's all interpreted as an image.
I wasn't very busy at work this morning so I attempted to make a start at building and revamping the html, but I don't see this happening very soon. Especially since I'm supposed to be reading up on a big project for work.
It's been a while since I worked with frames --basically, once they're in place you stop bothering about them as long as you get your "target" attribute right-- and I'm unsure what the idea of the builder was when he worked on this.
All this can be fixed in a couple of nights, I'm sure. I just need some time to sit down and busk it. And then I will need screenshots from people who are willing to take a few minutes to look at it in different browsers.
So, if you've got Mozilla, Opera, Safari or other browsers, please drop me a line (tell me about your browser!) and I'll draft you.
On a side note: squee! New icons!

you'll have to go page by page though, it doesn't check the whole site at once I believe

Date: 2007-07-23 07:35 am (UTC)I've noticed that some links don't work the way they should around the office either, and that's something the browsershot can't test for me.
So, you volunteering?
By the by, the first chapter of Crooked Little Vein was pretty good.
