D&D: the siege of Ironforge

janestarzLast nights' D&D session was great.
Before Drachenfest we had quit the last session when we just escaped from a dungeon that was associated with a guy called ZA, who also had Melvin's girlfriend murdered. This session we picked up where we left off, collected the horsies (gotta love Sir Jean's smart paladin mount who led them straight to us), and rode on back to Ironforge.
After a week, maybe two week's ride we saw smoke, and Grimm just dug his heels in and galloped on ahead. Turns out the farms around Ironforge were burning. Grimm jumps off his horse, Mariel just has the time to do the Resist Elements spell on him, and he runs into the farmhouse to look for survivors. He runs up the stairs, Mariel casts Ice shield on herself and looks downstairs, pulling out a small kid from the burning house. Grimm takes 25 hp of damage, but also rescues the father. Mother-dear was already standing outside, crying, and all receive healing, and get loaded into a cart. Grimm goes on ahead, and the others just slowly make their way to Ironforge, picking up survivors in the process. Turns out there's all these demon-thingies flying around the landscape. Ironforge is under siege, but we find a back door and get in.
Grimm gets to be in charge of the main gate, Melvin gets to do the ssssssmokin' thing with the other mages, Sir Jean leads 120+ cavallery to free villagers and bring them to safety, and Mariel gets to play the healer. Yay! We run, we bind wounds, we kick ass.
When night falls, Mariel goes by the infirmary, uses up all her spells to heal as many people as possible, and then falls over from exhaustion. In the middle of the night, Grimm wakes her up for some food, they move to some private quarters, and take off their armour and sleep there, along with Melvin. The next morning Mariel charges up on spells again, goes out of the quarters, and suddenly stands in the middle of 120+ horsies that have returned. Sir Jean is there also, ready to ride out again, and he is positively glowing with energy. Glad to see he's okay, she just goes "whoa...teh blinky" at him, and then when everyone is awake, they open the big gates of Ironforge, and walk out to meet the enemy.
