Yesterday we went back with my new digicam to the MediaMarket. We received another one, in trade for the old one and the box (serial numbers galore). So we went in to shop a bit more. With the system up and running, I had decided I wanted a universal memory card reader as well, and we also ended up upstairs for a USB cable. All four of my USB ports are in the back of my computer, and my new USB stick kind of needs to be in one of the ports to be read. So that is extremely inconvenient. It did however, work nicely. Free memory stick, courtesy Pfizer Lipitor. Yay and such.

So what else did we pick up at Media Markt? I bought me a new game: Settlers IV. I still need III and V if there are a number III and V. I even have the original cdrom of Settlers I. The First! Yay!
We also picked up a USB extension cable, as mentioned, a serial-Ata controller and a Samsung Serial ATA harddisk. I think it's 120 Gigs, but NoKey formatted and partitioned it for my Linux so I have 60s Gigabyte for XP to store shit on. Like Games. And such.
I helped install the DDR ram we also picked up, but it is the wrong herz-age. We need 266 and we bought....400? I dunno. In any case, it don't work.
We also switched some cdroms around. My Burninator is now in the top slot, which is open to be used. The old cdrom that was in that slot was broken/didn't get detected any more anyway, so we took that out. And we found a cdrom (52x) in Malor's old server thingy he dropped off here once, and installed that in the hidden slot underneath the flap that swishes open if you push it.

Pumilius Rufus has now been dubbed The Gaming Console. NoKey's having the most trouble re-installing Linux on it, but really relishes the new smooth feel Myst III has now. We had a Kernel Panic earlier, where something/someone/it tried to kill the INIT (which is a bad idea, apparantly). It was quite fun to see the Caps Lock and Scroll Lock lights blinking repeatedly while your system is stuck.

Besides all the computer tinkering though, I've not been feeling too good lately. Stuff is happening in my head that isn't very nice, but we're working on that, and I'm not going to elaborate if I hardly have a clue myself. And I've been a bit flu-ish. Last night I spent a couple of hours on the couch, listening to Reiki music and reading Terry Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment, the last of the Discworld series in our possession. After finishing that I'll be starting in Diary of a Geisha (Dutch) of Arthur Golden. The Japanese Culture is fascinating.

Oh, in other news, my father has gone ahead and planned his birthday celebrations on the day of the Yoshida reunion. I seriously have to get my agenda and head on straight, because now I can't cancel coming to the party. I/we will have to miss the reunion, which sucks, for something I'm looking far less forward to.

In better news, though, we might be doing a photoshoot in about an hour or so.

I loved reading Diary of a Geisha. I bought it as a present for my sister, because she really loves Japanese culture, but I read a bit to get an idea of the book and then couldn't stop until I finished it. The story feels a bit too smooth though, but is still a very nice read.
