The New Camera
Sep. 12th, 2005 09:49 amBoy, am I happy with my new camera or what! We picked it up on Saturday, at Mediamarkt. New batteries and a 512MB XD-card to go, please. It cost me an arm and a leg, but boy am I happy with that damned camera...
I've read part of the user's manual, mostly to see what all the settings are for. I know I won't be using the 'auto' setting a lot. I love my sports-setting, and the shutter-setting (set your shutter time), but I am seriously smitten with the aperture setting. Aperture, or what we Dutch would call the Diafragma-setting, makes sure that your focal point, your subject, is razor-sharp, while the background is blurry. It is exactly the kind of effect a mirror-reflex camera often has. And my digital camera can do that too!
Woei!
So, I've grabbed 185 pictures so far, and six of them are reallly pretty. I harassed the cats for a long time, and though the pictures of Saturday mainly were testing and trying to get the feel of the cam, those I made at my mom's yesterday were really great. Flowers! Plants! Cats!
Especially if you consider it can take pictures in chrome-colours...
So here are the six best on wallpaper format (downsized to 1024 x 768. Mail if you want them bigger).
Yes, the barbecue was very nice. NoKey and I cycled over there, a good 45 minute cycle, and brought 750 grammes of salmon, corn, and some cake. Coffee was good, and it was nice seeing Chris and IJsbrand again. Now they have a garden I can take millions of pictures in.
We helped prepare the table and NoKey and Luc lit the barbecue. We had several ounces of meat, corn, salmon wrapped in aluminum foil, shrooms, paprika and onion, etc. It was good. I sat closest to the bbq so I took upon me the task of walking to and fro.
After the barbecue we sat inside, and watched all the pictures I took. I had brought my cable for this reason. Rakker (the grey cat) at first had no time at all, but later on sat by the waterside and just snoozled a bit. That gave some great pictures.
We also met my brother's new girlfriend, Evelien. She is in tourism, and also rides horseback. NoKey played some more guitar and we went home after that.
It was a goooood weekend.
