Tired of my hair
Aug. 25th, 2005 09:09 amYou know, I've always said that cutting one's hair, especially any drastic change, especially in women, marks a transformation. To put it simply: the woman cuts her hair because she wants to be different, or because she notices change inside herself, and wants to express this too.
I just wonder whether it's the start of a change or the end of a change that is signified by this expressionist haircut.
I'm groing ever more tired with my hair. It's reaching the length that it's becoming a bother when going to the bathroom (and I drink loads of tea so I'm going quite often to begin with). I haven't worn it down, or in a (half)ponytail in ages, because it just gets in the way. Tangles galore. It's not been cut/trimmed in a year, because either I've not seen my stepmom or it was Christmas and she had other stuff to do. If I go to her parlour, it'll cost me at least € 50,- because it's so freaking long. They actually dare state that if your hair is so very long, you need to pay more for having it cut.
While last time I had the tips cut (also known as major upkeep), I couldn't even sit down in a chair, because that would involve the hairdresser having to kneel or crouch on the floor to be able to reach it.
Right now, my hair reaches the hollow of my back, where the band of my jeans are. It's dark-blonde at the top since I've not dyed it in ages (again because that is a bother too), red for the most part below that, and where the ratty ends are it becomes slightly orangeish.
I feel a haircut coming on.
In other news, I also need new shoes - my army boots are breaking down on the inside too now. And I need to buy a new digital camera - Consumentenbond *) says the Canon A70 (a later version of your A60,
tarlia) is a best buy.
*) Consumentenbond: 'Consumers' Union' (lit.); a group of people who do tests to ascertain which brand of something is the best buy. By being a member of the Union, you get a monthly magazine with their tests; you can also look up test results on the internet. They also do legal advice, and make sure you get your money's worth as a consumer. If you're not a member, you can still ask for their help, but a small one-time fee is required then. I'm a huge fan.
To do list today:

Date: 2005-08-25 01:35 pm (UTC)Really, I've been cutting my own hair for the past few years, and nobody seems to notice. That said, it does look like the end of a messy paintbrush, but it'd probably look like that even with a decent haircut.
