Another quickie
Jul. 9th, 2005 08:01 pmWell, today has been entertaining. NoKey and I took mom's car, which was freely available, to Sliedrecht to check out the Stoffenkraam, only to evoke the solemn promise that I would not be returning there. The personell was disinterested at best, and not even the promise of maybe buying 20 yards of fabric in the future could spark their interest. The Nicky velvet they feature really sucks, it attracts dust bunnies and threads. Their cotton jersey is cheap as long as you don't go for one that will actually wear nicely, and their wools are downright expensive. So I might be able to strike a deal with their salesperson who gave me his cellphone number, but not buying anything else there for a long time. Definitely not going over there ever again.
Did pick up some nice blue wool for lord knows what. It might match well with that celtic trim I got from Ebay.
Friday with Steelweaver was productive, and I got to learn a new technique: application. I will be making a new DG banner with this technique, and despite cutting and ironing all the bits 2 to 4 times, I liked it.
Also, started tablet weaving today. Cardboard tablets are not so very comfortable to the fingers, but I did make a nice thumb-wide trim in black and red with 8 cards (32 threads beside the shuttle). W00t! The beginning is the hardest bit and from then on it's all about paying attention. I might have even gotten a tan in the process. Also finished my cross-stitching of my archer's blouse, and started on the last bits of it: blackworking the other cuff.
My hair is currently simmering in henna and coffee in the hope to get a nice dark red due. No coffee for me until Monday though, it's all out now. Ah well, ever since I stopped drinking sugar with coffee I'm not half as addicted any more.
Tonight b-day at Keffie's, which will be fun. If not, I'll make it so.
