In Doom 2, there are some secret levels. The first one looks like Wolvenstein. I hated that game. And the second one also looked like Wolvenstein. And in the end of the level, I found four Commander Keens, dangling from nooses. No exit though. In Doom and Doom2, it's normal that 'if it don't budge, shoot it'.
I had to shoot al four Commander Keens in order to get to the exit.
Major hilarity there.

Am loving killing spree on new rocketlaunchering dudes though. *grin*

I remember that. I also remember the Keen's being hanged and such.

God, that is a long time ago. Might be time to find my old legal copy and 'iddqd + idkfa' my way through the levels.

In Doom I, in Ultra-violence, you have no problems with ammo. In Doom II, at some point you run out of ammo and have to continue on chainsaw/brass knuckles.
Yeah.

And if you are interested in 500 custom levels for mostly Doom I, let me know. There are some really great ones. We're making a spreadsheet of 'em.

Sometimes I'll play a bit of Wolfenstein on the old Pentium I Janou's parents keep around to play solitare on. Doom is definitely a lot cooler though, so I might just have to burn a copy of it so I can play that for a bit.

I liked the simple approach of Doom and Wolfenstein a lot more than the puzzling involved in Quake. I don't know about you, but I prefer to just shoot everything and then go to the exit, rather than having to first find out which arrangement of switches scattered across the level will open up the door leading to the key to the door leading to the exit. If I wanted to go thorough that, I'd play Myst.

That being said, old games rock.

Any kind of shoot em up makes me really twitchy and stressed out, even if I just watch it. My adrenalin levels and blood pressure go up pretty easily and it's not a nice feeling.

I haven't played anything much for ages...I think the last game I played was Prince of Persia, the original version.
