Current Projects
Feb. 4th, 2005 09:02 amFor tidiness' sake, I have gathered some of my cloth in bags. There's basically a big pile, growing from the belly of a big plastic chest. All over that pile, are bags of stuff. Lace, fake fur, scraps of leather, a bag with the babystuff we were making for my cousin, etc. NoKey has his own pile, and it's almost-but-not-quite-yet being overrun by my pile.
In any case, some of the larger bags are labeled. There's a "Bestellingen stof" which contains the fabric I bought for orders. There's also a "Jane's stoffen" which hold my fabrics for personal use, as well as a "Current projects" and a "CP restjes" which holds the scraps of fabric from the Current projects. Sometimes that even holds the scraps from the older, already finished projects.
There are also three bags now, with stuff for the 1880s dress. One has the pattern pieces I cut, the pattern itself, and the butt-pillow. It also holds the apron and bustle pieces. That one is quite full. Then there's a bag with brown velvet meant for this dress. And there's a bag with more of the original cloth, hence making the brown velvet surplus.
Now, since Steelweaver presented me with that gorgeous victorian corset pattern of Laughing moon, I've decided to make the corset and then make the blouse for the dress. Since, if I'm wearing a corset, the shape of my body will be different. That means I'll have to make the corset first.
The corset pattern will, ofcourse, have to be altered. And I'm going to have to get my hands on some coutil, the fabric that is strong enough to make corsets of. I actually want a blood red corset, so I'll have to dye the coutil.
I also had the gold princess dress lying ready to be made. The pattern is adapted. So this project will be pushed forward. I'll sort out the 1880s fabrics, put the pattern pieces away, and then lay it to the side.
Just like that Arwenesque gown I was making. It's more of a nightie, from the part of The Two Towers where Aragorn is kissing his horse, and Arwen comes to him in a dreamto call him a big horsekisser. Take two rectangles, attach at shoulder seam, making sure front neckline is wider than back neckline. Then, lockstitch everything to ruffles. Voila: a priestess robe. Now that I have Esmeralda to dress up, it's going to be so much easier to finish that priestess robe.
But today I will have to start on something else.
