The new dagger sheath
Dec. 10th, 2004 12:16 pmYesterday was fun. I was so busy on those damned tunics (they're kind of hard yes) for Valyar when the doorbell rang. I had not yet expected Voltar to be here, so I was kind of startled. Especially if you take into account that when I work on things that have 'beleg' in them, I keep the scraps of fabric lying around on the floor where they were after I cut the pattern pieces. I can then easily see which parts are big enough for those last damned pieces of 'beleg' I hate to make.
But we headed straight back out again, picking up Shoarma at the local shoarma-vendor. I had never picked up any food there, but it was tasty. A bit dry, but tasty. They do actual garlic in their garlic sauce (unlike calve or any other sauce making concern who just put garlic powder which is much less tasty in their sauces). I love REAL garlic sauce. I love garlic, for that matter.
So after dinner and watching the Lands in Exile pictures on my Luc-sponsored monitor, we headed back into the livingroom. Voltar explained what kind of armour he wanted to make and out of what (the softest brown suede I've ever seen, supple as velvet too) and I made him a pattern while he helped me make a dagger-sheath. I had tried sewing the split-suede (green) I had bought at Strieder, and my sewing machine gagged, but swallowed it nonetheless. It was quite a trick to sew the dagger-sheath, but now Stitches has a nice new wearable sheath, and Voltar has a small plastic map with his pattern pieces in there.
Those tunics of Valyar aren't much fun though. The beleg has a mind of its own, and I can't sew it in with the lockmachine.
