Yes, well, what to say about Formanterra 8...it's pretty difficult because I have a split opinion. On one hand I was sad that I couldn't go to Sjuuls' party, and we could really use the rest at home. On the other hand it was a fun live, with a lot of thinking involved, some pretty hefty scenes, some very good roleplay (and rulings of SL/dungeon masters).

All players who decided to come to Formanterra IIX had received the following invitation:
Dutch, large image, new window
You don't necessarily have to read it, because my character can't either. It does, however, give a nice summary of things that have happened in the previous Formanterra's.

So. We arrive. Salyana, Quintor of Lun (head priest of the moon, played by Mo), Athar, Cashel of Lun (priest, Ruud), and Narel (NoKey) and Tis (me) as their Tempelions (bodyguards/paladins). We are greeted by Lucas, a very gay man with a very hideous wig, a little mirror to check his appearance. He gives us a tour of the house, shows us our rooms, an indoor fireplace, the feasthalls, and a designated area where there were altars where we could have a mass.

After the tour, we indeed have a mass, and receive our powers and onit. We then return to he feasthall. A couple of Dreghori (army) approach Salyana and Athar. Since the war with the Sha'Kri every Dayari was enrolled into the army. But some of the Cashels were freed of that obligation. The Karaat who bothered us, was quickly coaxed to sleep, and the Dreghori stayed at the other side of the room from that moment on, until a higher-ranking man came to release us of our duties and pay our wages. Salyana didn't even bother with getting her pay, and stated that the Dreghori were more muscles than brains anyway.

During the evening, one thing became absolutely clear. Despite the household being in perfect shape under Lucas' milky hand, the Tredanya's (outcasts) obedient and quick, their Mistress our host was nowhere to be seen. To the question "Where is Mary" Lucas answered us that she would arrive when the time was right. Even dancing with him was to no avail. Nobody had seen Mary since yesterday, or tomorrow, and people started to wonder.

Then, as the night was well underway, The doors of the feasting hall slammed shut, and music played. The lights died and a violin appeard. It played a macaber tune, and four ghosts danced on the dancefloor. They didn't hurt anyone, they never attacked, they just danced. And then they disappeared.
Everyone was in a rut, ofcourse, but this was just the beginning of weird events.

The manor was soon in a rush because on the altar of Lun, where we had had our mass earlier, suddenly the two dead bodies of two noblewomen who were present at the party, were found. The poor souls were murdered. And then, bystanders found that the bodies stood up, walked trough the altar of Gun (life) to the next room. The next room, we found out, was the room of Mary. There was no furniture there, nothing to show that it was the room of the Lady.
The feasthall was suddenly locked down by a living chain, which we couldn't touch.
The housekeeper showed us the room of Mary, and we inspected Lucas' room.
We were running around until four in the morning, after which we collapsed into a sleep.

The next morning we had breakfast and Narel and I tried to train like we do in the Sacrilor, but we were disturbed. The chain that had closed down the feasthall, came outside. On its own. Someone mentioned that maybe that meant the hall was open again and we ran inside. The hall was opened allright. It had also changed. From the cosy candle-lit room of the night before, now everywhere were skulls, black drapes, and cobwebs. The worst bit was the three hung maids. They had been dead for a while. The windows had only blackness beyond. Narel put his sword through, and found out that when he retracted the sword it was ice cold.
The tempelion of Dor (Death) then suggested sticking a Tredanya out. It also came back ice cold, but alive. There was, apparantly, no air there. Just blackness. Then, when Lucas sauntered in, he fainted when he saw the bodies. When he came to, the tempelions of War and Dor stuck him out of the black hole, and when he came back he fainted again.

We retreated to the indoor fireplace to rest a bit, since we had not been able to sleep that night (In character that is). The doors had been locked. There was a racket in the kitchens, spoons flying through the opened door, and when we checked it out. There, the head of Lucas was in a frying pan, with his ring next to it. The head was skinless, but with the wig. It could harly be anybody else.
Right after we disposed of the head and stood talking about the possibilities, a so-called "merchant" came offering us the ring for sale. Since stealing is an offense that could make you a tredanya, we walked to the camp of the Dreghori and spoke to the karaat about this. The merchant was finally found innocent by the plogaat, but the next riddle had already presented itself. There were spiders on the altar of Lun.
Stuff happened really fast after that. Riddle after riddle. Event after event. In the room of Mary a broom started to bounce and shake. Knocks on the floor. Pens, writing by themselves, and a ghost playing cards with us. Lord Pumpkin telling us "Stiften, pittig spelletje". Fems, arriving and claiming the genitals of Dester and the Grey one. Still, none of the remaining staff could tell us where Mary was. A ghost appeared on the front yard, a demon wanted to know whether we would fight him or cooperate to attack another world. A plogaat (judge) cut off the head of one of her viwaten to measure justice. On the banner of Lun a wolf's paw appeared in blood, with the N changed into a P also in blood. The cashel of Gun (life) had blood appear on his belly. Blood appeared on my right hand. All kinds of games were played with us. A chair-dance, more dancing ghosts.

We tried searching the manor, and found a wine cellar. There was also a closet, of which the lock was heavily guarded. Shendra, another Tempelion of Dor, tried to pick the lock, but received a shock and was comateuse for a while. Cerberus handed me a big mace of stone and iron and I tried breaking the doors. There was metal underneath the wood, and the mace got warmer. Apparantly, the metal was also electrically charged. Cerberus then threw a flask of water against it, and smoke rose. Too bad two seconds later he stepped into the water himself.
(A very good call of Malor, Dungonmastering this bit. The bastard. *evil grin* )

People started shouting bits of text without recalling what they said. Nothing of the vision that Salyana had, had come true. We nearly broke our brains on the riddles.

The thing that impressed me most was the bit at night. A spell came over all of us and we marched outside chanting "Our time has come, be greeted". Outside we were waiting for two undead with a banner, and we followed them to a graveyard, where we saw our dead bodies rise from graves. (during Time Freeze we sang "always look on the bright side of death" while the NPC's got into place.) Salyana and Tis lay side by side on the more expensive part of the graveyard. Tis told Tis (me) that she had died in a transformation. She also told me that she had attacked Salyana and that she had infected her too.
Talk about a wake-me-upper. That sort of kind of really totally was Tis' worst nightmare. I didn't speak of this to any of the Lun people, yet.

We found out that the souls were stolen and that we needed the ball in which they were trapped. That we should follow the lightses. So we did. The lights brought us to a wall, with one entrance. There was a statue holding an orb, and Narel grabbed the orb. "Do you claim the orb of souls?" the statue said. "Yes" Narel said.
The statue looked at us and walked around and asked us why we wanted the orb, only to answer "you have not understood". He destroyed the orb. A big pumpkin appeared.

We understood by this time that Lord Pumpkin was playing games with us. And that we probably should cheat to win. But how...that was the problem.

The next morning Narel and Tis did get to train, and we found a bloodied doll. Blood appeared on my hand again, and a bloodied paw appeared on the cashel of Gun again. Crossbow bolts appeared out of nowhere. A Quintorium session was called, with the Quintors of War, Sol, Lup, Dor and Lun, to hear the beliefs of Law. Sol and Lun would never be able to be in the Quintorium together, and Lup was prohibited. We found out this was a possible future, just like the graveyard. Riddles, riddles, and more riddles.

In the end, we were locked out of the manor. Lucas appeared on the driveway, walking towards us. His face was bloodied, his beautymark (which I had removed with some spit) re-painted, his head sewn back on his body. He announced his mistress: Night Mary.
Night Mary then called our worst enemies to chase us off her lands. The shadows. The Sha'Kri. The Dreammaster. Mordeth and Meva. With their beefed-up undead, shadow warriors, playtoys etc. A fight followed. I stuck to Salyana, but soon I was interrupted by a dagger on my throat. Lucas said "you promised me another dance". From the corners of my eye I saw Salyana running around. I refused, and he struck my torso with his dagger. I was hit another time on my legs, and lay on the ground trying to fight the pain. Mordeth stood behind me and wove a spell that filled me with fear, and I tried to crawl away. Another fighter hit my leg after that, and it was bleeding very heavily, I was unable to surpress the pain or stand up. Another undead took my other leg and dragged me off the land. Later, he dropped Salyana with me. Athar and Narel followed later.
Mary didn't want us on her lands anymore, and it's up to us to figure out how much there was an illusion and how much was real.

Glad you liked it... it was quite the intensive live for the Monster Crew as well... we had a big pile of player backgrounds, and NPC's kept poring over those to add a touch of personal horror to everything.
We had a lot of good people on both the player and NPC side, and I loved it. This was pretty much the end of the weekend-live season for this year for me, and it was a doozy. Also glad that Migs was happy (first time ever that HIS live was organized by someone else; also weird to see him not stress at a live) and that Rene and Cora had managed it all. It was pretty touchy with the personal circumstances those two were in, and as good friends we only could support them.

I'll post my own NPC view in my LJ (both sides of the fence, offc *grin*), and thanks for the compliments.
