Madrid becoming Rotterdam
Mar. 18th, 2004 01:45 pmWent to the Elf shop and everything went fine. Coffee with Pasje, buying a cloak clasp from her, and returning her velvet and then back to the subway.
Then at Gerdesiaweg the metro stopped. And stayed in place. I was peacefully reading my Vampire The Masquerade novel of Lucita, Sacrifices, the last of a trilogy, and I was quite content at having my book handy. After fifteen minutes, the driver made an announcement which was lost in the racket of a train approaching from the other side. Then, the call on the intercom system was lost in the racket of recharging the battery of the metro (or whatever that noise is). The third message did reach our ears though. There was no traffic happening from and to Capelsebrug. Which is one of the major subway stations. They said that the police said there couldn't be any traffic. The next message that we heard was that there had been a 'suspicious package' and that the EOD (bomb-squad, or rather: anti-bomb-squad) were working on it.
So they figured out a solution and the metro would continue to the station closest to Capelsebrug, where people could get a bus. If there would be any buses, they didn't know. By the time the other passengers and I were swarming around one of the subway-people, the whole thing was solved, and it appeared to be a false alarm. But it might have been another Madrid happening here.
Need to work on that cloak prompto now.
