Stumbling into patterns again and again.
Feb. 9th, 2004 06:13 pmI hate the fashion industry. But I love making clothes. How opposite. Normally I just rant about fashion dolls and their erect nipples, the current standards of fashion and how everyone should have anorexia. The reason I hate them today is the following.
NoKey and I had bought a Burda Magazine which is a magazine featuring patterns every month. Now, in this Burda (a German company, I believe) there is a sizes-table which tells you if your boobs are x big you have a size j. If your hips are y big you have a size e. For example, I measuremed my chest which gave me a nice 102 centimeters. The table told me I'm a size 22-23. Okay. I measured my hips, 117 cm, and the table said 'oh you're a size 24-25'. Okay. No problems there. I wanted to make a top and a jacket and a pair of neat trousers. So I would just make the top and jacket in size 23, and the trousers in size 25. Let's just ignore that this company makes patterns only for people of an average height of 160 (30 cm short for me, yes)...and continue with the story.
Then I turn back to the page with the patterns. I blinked. And then I looked at the rest of the patterns. I blinked once more. Then I turned to the front of the magazine when the first lightening bolts emerged from the dark clouds that had gathered over my head.
The Magazine apparantly only features sizes 17-21. Which calculated back is I think from a size 34-40 in Dutch sizes, maybe 4-10 in UK sizes.
I hate hate hate hate the fact that excusez-le-mot fat people (IN their fucking eyes, yes!) are not even allowed to make their own fucking clothes! I mean, never mind that society spits on us and we can hardly ever find clothes in normal stores so that we have to resort to making our own stuff. Just keep up the white collar idiocy and spit us out of the DIY scene as well.
Honestly, if I ever ever ever get my own clothing line going for real I will only produce clothing for sizes 44 and larger!
BIG IS BEAUTIFUL; WE HAVE CURVES!

Date: 2004-02-09 12:58 pm (UTC)And if you ever start producing non-larping clothes in non-anorexia sizes, I know quite a few people who would be intrested in them.

Date: 2004-02-10 01:55 am (UTC)I do create non-larping clothing in non-anorexia sizes, but they are mostly just for me. If you know someone who wants to place an order, that is ofcourse possible. XD
