During dinner (potatoe-zuccini-dish) NoKey and I watched a bit more of The 10th Kingdom. I suppose it's impossible to watch that entire movie in one piece, seeing that it's over 7 hours long! But I am enjoying it thoroughly. The sets are marvellous. Like you just landed in Snowwhite and Rapunzel's world.
We watched from the gypsies, where we stopped the dvd when we were at Voltar's a while ago, until after LittleLamb village, where the shepherdesses are the horniest people around. I love this movie already. If only for the costumes. And Dianne Wiest plays a marvellous role as evil queen. In great looking outfits.

On the DVD it says "Dianne West" but the actress' name is Wiest, apparantly. I knew her face, and after some careful browsing I ound out why I know her. She played in Independance day (though I can't recall her), Practical Magic, The Horse Whisperer, and the Associate (with Whoopie Goldberg). I am now new fangirl to this actress. Fansite for Dianne.

And a picture, to show you who it is I'm talking about. Yes, that's Ed O'Neill as troll king. You probably know him as Al Bundy.

It's more like a fairytale. But yes it does have slaughter. Mostly because the trolls kick ass. It used to be a miniseries.

Go forth and seeeth this movie.

She's the First Lady in ID4 ;-)
I don't know that movie. Is it a recent one? And what is it about?

It used to be a miniseries. And I can wholeheartily recommend it. It's fantasy, with a wink to all the Brother Grimm tales. Say, two generations after Snowwhite. So you have trolls, giants living up enourmous smelly beanstalks, LittleLambtown where the Peep family has all the luck...etc.

It is a very long (7 hours) fantasy movie, which is really funny. Also funny is that Martine and I are watching it too atm, in 2-3 hour bits. We're at DVD 2 now.

Yes, I like the actress. She plays really well... and believable for a change.

If you don't know it, watch it. It is a nice fantasy movie to pass the time with.

Right, seeing as some of you own the dvd, is there any chance Twilight and I could borrow it some time?

Also, just to show how bad I am...my first thought when I saw that picture was "dude, that hood is never going to stay on" directly followed by "s a cool outfit though, I wonder if I can make that". Think about that what you want.

Seeing the hood is heavy velvet and part of it drops in front of the shoulders, it should stay up...provided there's not too long a tail at the back.

Also: the dvd is Voltars', and I can't lend it to people. I'm sure the videostores and rentals have it. Might be in the kids' section. Or try amazon or bol to order it.
