Rows of Administration...
Jan. 30th, 2004 03:22 pmBeing back in Veenendaal isn't that bad. Reini is very much bugging me with questions and if I keep my door closed she won't come barging in.
Bad news I heard today is that I can't live here for another year. Or maybe that's good news. As soon as my contract ends (june 2004) I'll have to move out.
Doing my administration (you know, dumping all the junk mail into ordners and paying bils) gave me a headache. I even found a letter from the Gereformeerde Church here in Veenendaal saying theywant my soul want to know whether or not I'm going to attest (? is that the word?). I hooked up my printer, the hazy fuck, and wrote them a small letter saying I found my faith elsewhere and I'd like to be written down in the books as a heretic. Or something more polite.
I'm off to pay some more bills and look up some costumes to see which one to wear tomorrow to Inge's party and to the photoshoot on the 8th.

It could be wrong, and all sorts of churches have different terms for it, but in my experience 'confirmation' is the used to signify the procedure by which you agree with the church's teachings and the church takes you as an official member. It might just apply to young people who were raised in the church, though, as that is the main context in which I have heard the term used.

Date: 2004-01-31 04:36 am (UTC)But I mostly believe in Life and Love. Above all.
I stole bits of Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and maybe even satanism...and from paganism even more than from others, maybe.
To summarize: I believe there is an 'entity', a higher being, which we humans may never understand. I don't think we can name it, or try to capture its essence in a religion and ties, rules, and boundaries.
It's really hard to explain. *shrugs*
Sorry.

Date: 2004-01-31 02:54 am (UTC)The problem is with all the dogma's is that there are none of them where I can find myself in. Some have weird rules or weird interpretations (weird being my opinion here offc... ), others are very much turned into themselves and closed of from the world. A close friend of mine, Rebecca, has made the decision to leave her church, a sub-sect of Christianity, because she found it too close-minded. Most of her old friends do not even speak to her now. THAT is something that in the modern world I do not find acceptable. I have friends and collegues all over the religious spectrum, from modern Wiccans to traditional Moslims, and I get along with all of them.
Where I am going to: yes, I do believe in something. Call it hope. While I do not agree with any particular religion I do have a feeling that there is something out there. And I do my own personal religion just for me. No services, no flock, just a great deal of thinking and introspection. Call it Malorism if you will ;-)

Date: 2004-01-31 04:39 am (UTC)Let's celebrate in Malorish ways!
I think it's good that each person thinks about what they believe in. Faith can add so much to a person's life. But not neccessarily do religions in themselves have the Ultimate Truth. After all, if there is an entity such as we refer to as a God, how can we mere humans ever grasp that concept?
an afterthought
