Daylight Savings Time
Oct. 26th, 2003 12:31 pmThe occurance of DST kicking in makes me wonder when that ever was installed? Surely in the medieval times people were not so greedy yet that they would try to savour the light and as a result mess up the time schedule of their country?
Work was okay. Lots of coffee. I was 'flying keep' again and had to clean the bar. Big deal. Auto-pilot all the way, baby!
Monday, to NoKeys; Tuesday go to the market with NoKey; Wednesday practice at TC's place; and then onwards! Maybe visit mother-dearest.
Now: for breaking my fast.

Date: 2003-10-29 12:46 am (UTC)After the war ended, DST was dismissed.
DST was reinstalled in the Netherlands during the energy crisis of the 1970's. It was allready installed in some other European countries, but not in all, which was a bit confusing at times.
Nowadays all Western Eueropean countries hacve DST, as far as I know, so it's not as confusing anymore.
I was a kid during the enrgycrisis, and I thought it was all cool. We had car-less sundays, on which no one was allowed to drive a car. We would go and play on the highways. Real cool! We loved that.
They also kicked in DST, which was very cool indeed. Time itself, which had also appeared to be so untouchable, could now be changed by just moving the hands of the clock. It was a great mysterious revolution to me, men conquering time, and I loved it.
