Nijmegen was much fun. Though the NS brutally screwed up my ETA because of a power failure (just as the train only had a couple of more yards to go to pick me up) I was an hour late. but luckily, [livejournal.com profile] sherameyn had also been late, and was still waiting for me at the bookstore we agreed to meet.

We took a bus to Plein 1944, and then walked to Kaldi Koffie, where the dude who addicted me to his espressomachine [massster massster!] made us two wonderfully large cappuchino's.

We looked at some art supplies and browsed the Blue Moon goth shop. Some more browsing of the secondhand store Habbekrats (where I bought a messing Elf Goblet) and then we hauled her bags to the station, while chattering about larp.

Chilled on the way home, ate some pizza, and arrived here at euhm...eightish? Dunno.

37. are you tolerant of other people's beliefs? I'd like to think so. But they have to tolerate me in my view of life as well.
I think I can relate to this. I want to be real tolerant, and I think I should. But I often find I am very intolerant to fundamentalistic Christians. Somehow I just can't stand them.

46. at what age did you find out that santa claus wasn't real? Sinterklaas: at age 5 or 6.
I think I was 6 or 7 when I found out he wasn't real. Took me a lot longer to find out he is real after all. Most people don't seem to know this, but Sinterklaas does exist! I am not kidding, it is true. I wore the Sinterklaas suit once, and I had the privilege to play his part, and I felt the spirit of Sinterklaas coming over me and Sinterklaas became part of me.
I also can tell Sinterklaas exists when I watch my son's face unpacking his gifts. I know who bought those gifts (me and my wife did) and I know who left the bag with presents in front of the house and knocked on the windows (I did). But when I see the children's faces, I know there must be more to it than that, and Sinterklaas must exist.
I know I can't expect anyone to believe it, but I do believe it with all of my heart.
I guess this pretty much answers question 39: do I believe in magic?

"I am very intolerant to fundamentalistic Christians"

True. I live with two of them and they get on my nerves. They are so sincere, so open, so enthusiastic, it's sickening. They are so confident that what they believe is right and what everybody else believes is a lie, that I can't stand them.
But they make up for that when I see the disturbed (no, wait, the word is disgusted) look on their faces when they see my vampiric background.

Sinterklaas: ah yes, but he was named after Saint Nicholas, the spanish do-gooder who split his own rich cloak in two to cover the naked bodies of poor children.
Giving gifts is the most rewarding selfishless thing you can do.
