So I got this e-mail today



Hi Jane,
Your drawings are nice on Elfwood but I'd like to confess something...I think you're cute and that's why I reply. I am in general interested in creative minds and I've noticed that artists on Elfwood often have thesame interests as I do; like fantasy/sci-fi, games etc...all not very special for men but all the more special to women. I've also noticed that these creative people/nerds/whatever often were bullied in highschool, but let's not discuss that. I didn't make any pretty pictures myself but I have made a lot of music: [link] (read: shameless plug).

Right. With such a nice appearance you probably have a boyfriend but otherwise, I'd like to chat with you some day (I also have MSN). How would you like that?

I translated it myself which makes it harder...
Attached to this message was a picture of him (which contained a virus, by the by) and a link to his music gallery.
What do you think: Honest admirerer (hey, he IS a muscician so that could be a pro); or potential stalker? I say potential stalker, how about you?

And what is that line about "creative minds...all the more special to women"? Even with vertaling, he sounds like a freak, and not the good kind. Pas op.

I guess he was just trying to say that women are less likely to like fantasy and sci-fi then men. Which is partially true ofcourse. I'm just some weird freak for liking that. Not weird enough to reply to this ofcourse.

So this guy thinks you're cute? I can't blame him. You are an attractive young woman, in my humble opinion.
And I can't blame him either for wanting to communicate with you as a fellow artist/musician/nerd/fantasy&scifi-fan.
I mean, I myself really enjoy communicating with fellow artists/nerds/fantasy-fans. Nothing wrong with that.

It's just the way he asks that makes me think the guy is no good. And the fact that he asks you about you having a boyfriend.
If you just want to connect to a fellow-artist, then what does it matter if that fellow artist has a boyfriend or girlfriend?

So I would come to the same conclusion as everyone else here: don't go into this.

And you're right. The fact that he asks me something that personal is disturbing. It's none of his damn business.
