Final week of the year
Dec. 18th, 2017 09:42 amI'll be taking the period between X-mas and the New Year off. No surprise there, as I'll be visiting Emphebion that week.
That means it's the final week of the year. I've still got a ton of work to do at home: editing pictures, updating website, finding a better Wordpress template, updating the Etsy shop etc.etc.
Last week I tore another hole in my jeans, right near the seat. So I spent most of the day sewing a new pair of jeans. Because I've never gotten around to making the perfect jeans pattern for myself, I just adjust a commercial pattern and end up with poorly-fitting ones. By the time it was ready for fitting I saw just how poorly it was fitting me (and it was already half past seven) so I just said "fuck it" and went home instead.
So that's on my plate for this week. Drafting a pattern, fitting, and sewing a new pair of jeans. I don't have any more stretch jeans-fabric in stock so I might have to go out and get some. Poo. (Tomorrow maybe, there's market.)
All these years I'm limping along, wearing one poorly fitting jeans after another. The pair I just threw out was bought when I was still working in Son, so it's a couple of years old and the fabric was very thin at the seat, so there was no repairing it anymore. I don't know how I've managed these years, always just one pair of jeans away to being forced to wear a skirt (with poorly-fitting tights).
Once I get a good pattern, it's just a matter of sewing a few so I've always got a spare pair. The 'spares' I'm wearing now are at least one size too small in the tummy and gives me a belly-ache if I sit down too much.
In other news, my purple sweater re-vamp worked wonderfully, but then I put it on Sunday morning, and I was so hot I smelled of sweat very quickly and I ended up wearing the blue one with the a-symmetrical collar to my mom's birthday bash instead.
