Because of the hectic week last week (sewing full-time, grandma's funeral, six evening shifts for Eisirt, and two customers on Sunday) I took Monday and Tuesday off. That means that yesterday was my first day of the week. Sigunne's boyfriend is going to build us a storage attic in the atelier above the door, so we went to a lumberyard yesterday to pick up the supplies.

As he is working in contracting and calculates load-bearing beams and floors, he was pretty methodical. He also knew what construction workers normally use as timber sizes, so he assumed those were normal. That's why we couldn't just pick up the supplies at a random hardware store. It's probably not much of a price difference and it saves him a lot of work recalculating beam size and floor thickness to the odd sizes they have at Praxis.
So we drove back to the atelier with a 2 cm thick plate of plywood on top of his car, which went perfectly fine as he has outfitted the car to be able to do that. I also picked up some saw-ends to lift my sewing desk. I've recently purchased a good sewing saddle-chair for better posture, but it couldn't go low enough so my old 1980s formica desk had to be lifted a bit. If I can't see where my needle moves, I tend to hunch forward, so I sit lower than I would at a computer desk where your arms are level with the top of the desk.

The fabrics have been moved to my sewing desk for now and this morning the lumber company will drop off three beams for the attic and we can start work. We need 24 holes in the wall and that'll take some doing. I doubt I'll get any sewing done this week at all, but then I don't have any pressing assignments at the moment.

In knitting news, I've been working on a white French CanCan shawl, which is just marvelous (except for the colour). I'm still in doubt if I want to try dyeing the shawl or if I'm just going to give it away as it is. It'll help me clear four skeins of cotton/rayon blend from the stash and it was a fun knit! I've made this pattern before and it's still very pretty.

As for the warm wrap for Zaphira, I've cast on in a larger needle size (6 mm) and the result is more drape. Mirroring the mini-cables also makes the pattern look more logical. I'm glad I've figured this out, as this was not a free pattern and I'd hate to buy a pattern and not use it. Muse is pleased at the moment. I'll never finish before Emphebion in a week, but I can take it along and knit on the spot if I have to. I'll be loving the shawl come the winter event, I'm sure!
