Wish I had a glue gun (!!!)
Jul. 8th, 2017 09:46 pmFor the first time ever, I wish I had a glue gun. Sewing fake flowers onto a hat is not quite my cup of tea, shall we say.

Hat base: Bristol, 10 euro (on sale). It's 100% braided paper, so no plastic, yay!
Some 20 euro of fake flowers from Action. Loads of plastic in this. Boo.
I also brought a dark blue ribbon, which I didn't use, and the good boning cutters home with me from the atelier to snip all the stems.
The brim of the hat was strengthened by some steel wire which I zig-zagged on. Always wear eye protection! Broke two needles on that thing. Then I covered the wire with blue bias tape, which gave the thing a chique feeling.
After maybe an hour of handsewing, cursing petals that were looped by my thread and poking a tiny needle into fingers and even knees, I've got a decorated hat. I was dragging my feet all night, not wanting to start, and then it turns out it's just an hour of work. Also sewed another bar on my skirt, hand-stitched the facing of my blouse down and got a little paranoid about what food to bring to the picknick tomorrow.

Kwibus is unsure of what he's supposed to do with this hat. Sorry for fuzzy picture.
I really hope there will be at least someone taking pictures at the event, but I'll ask Eisirt to tote my Canon and snap some good ones.
