Knitting outside my comfort zone
May. 23rd, 2017 08:52 amI'm not a big fan of "fraternal" socks. I often find them loud and chaotic and somehow, not as neat as a pair that has two exactly the same socks.
But maybe that should change. Sometimes fraternal socks are very pretty, and although I've never chosen to knit a pair fraternally unless specifically asked to do so, I am forcing myself out of my comfort zone with this pair of unicorn socks. After all, unicorns are pretty and rare and very special. I think making these socks fraternal will be very rare and special and maybe even pretty.
The pattern is "Streepje Anders" and it was the KAL-sock of April. The pattern was free for a limited time and HeleenK the designer is a wonderfully grateful person. I love the pattern, it's very pretty and well-written, and it has a heel I've never done before. Heleen is very gracious in enjoying all of our glee at her pattern, and she will have a full pattern page with lots of examples of how her pattern knits up because of the KAL. And I will get a beautiful pair of Unicorn socks.
