Ok, ok, it's official. You can call me a perfectionist.
But I can blame my muse, who is soooo tired of twiddling her thumbs, waiting for Sock Madness. "I have nothing to doooo." she cries woefully.
Of course, finishing the Bodemloos sweater is completely dumb. Getting around to Kat's Eowyn socks is fiddly. And the Morgenfryd I'm knitting for Sigunne is the wrong colour. It must be something new and shiny.
Or something old and shiny.

I can also blame the girls at Anemoona's Beppen & Breien (Stitch & Bitch). It was great fun, and I left with a head full of ideas. One of them being that I re-knit the Hitchhiker in larger needles. The thing is slightly to small and it keeps slipping off my shoulder. Add to that Tyldak's super-honesty ("Wow, this is a tight gauge! Oh, sorry. That's not a socially acceptable comment, is it? Woo. Pretty.") and you've got the perfect recipe for a nagging doubt.
But the basic truth is that I'm a perfectionist. I don't mind doing an extra round with this yarn - scrumptious as it is - and I don't mind the extra hours. The result will be worth it!

Frogging the old one as I go.

Knowing that I knit slightly tighter than other people, I checked out other people's Sock that Rock projects, espcecially shawls (gotta love Ravelry, that you can search for those exact terms!) and decided to knit on 4mm, whereas the previous version of the Hitchhiker was on 3mm. I'm not sure when my knitting hand changed from 'standard' to 'slightly more tightly', but even if I was still on standard gauge back then, this would translate to 0.75 mm to 1 mm more loosely knitted. If you can say that.

You can already see the difference in tooth size - top edges aligned.

The toothed edge was 95 centimeters, the bound-off edge was 60 centimeters and the longest side was roughly 137 centimeters long. Let's see how big it will grow on larger needles, with a more relaxed knit fabric as a result.

This is not one of Kwibus' normal sleeping spots. And he always wakes up when I want to take a picture of him. But there's nothing like a cat staring into the camera (even if he does look a bit goofy...)

Kwibus - Prutweer

Of course, we already had a beautiful picture of our Doortje in the exact same spot. Sans miniquilt to warm her butt on -- I think this picture was the very reason I made the quilt in the first place!

Ding! Set completed.
And now I should get back to website editing...
