We picked him up yesterday morning and as soon as we came home, Doortje poked her head into the carrier to see what we had brought. Kwibus was a little overwhelmed and hid in the carrier for a long while, sleeping off the stress after an initial exploration to each checkpoint: kibble, water, litterbox.

By the time Eisirt left for work, Kwibus was still not coming out, so I forced him to come out of the carrier. He was roaming around for a while but soon I had lost him. I was a little afraid he'd fallen off the balcony. So far he hadn't shown any interest in the open door or the balcony, but the only thing keeping him from the wide world was a screen with magnets he could easily open.
I found him tucked away in the Expedit that separates the sitting area from the rest of the room, all hidden away in the darkest corner on top of my corsetry box.

After another hour, I pulled the couch and end table out of the way to wake him up. I get that he needs to sleep, but the temperature was dropping, and I wanted him to socialise a bit. He quickly came out and made the rounds. He used the litterbox and very ineptly tried to bury his pee, standing on the edge of the box and scraping the bookcase next to it.
Then he had a big drink of water and a big meal on Junior kibble and was ready to face the world!
So naturally, he cuddled up to me on the couch and pressed himself against my leg. We were warned he was a cuddler!

I got up to get my telephone out of my purse, and sure enough, my warm spot was immediately stolen by Doortje:

Breien verbroedert....

Kwibus slept, and after sundown started roaming around and playing. Up until the moment he did the rounds, I was a little worried, but now he relaxed visibly. When I moved from my knitting to a game behind the pc, he came looking for me, squeaking his little kitten-meow because I was GONE! He sat on the chair next to me for a while, while I played Armoured Warfare.

I waited for Eisirt to return home around midnight and gave him an update. We opened the bedroom door, and suddenly Kwibus' world became much larger! He started exploring under the bed, carefully monitored by Doortje.
He slept in the bed with us, and I woke up once because I nearly rolled onto him -- mom instinct for the win!

Doortje is a champion in all this. She is very relaxed and calm. I've played with them both, reassured Doortje and cuddled with her. She's trying to play with Kwibus, who isn't quite sure about everything yet. When she runs away, he sits and looks puzzled instead of chasing her. But when he's playing with an old shoelace, she's preying on the other end. Sometimes she defends her spot from the invader, and just now when Eisirt was chastising Kwibus because he was eating on the plant, he squeals and Doortje comes running like she's his mommy. She washes him and pokes him, but she still has her spot in the windowsill all to herself.
