And then we were suddenly in Köln!

We had booked a night in a hotel, warned the receptionist we would come out looking a little weird and had a great time at the Katakomben Tavern. Located in some old fortifications, every month larpers gather here for a fun night IT, diplomacy, dice games and some light sparring in the yard.
It was quite something else to dress up in the luxury of a hotel. *grin* And the night receptionist's face as we returned was priceless.

Koln2Koln1

After a good night's sleep under down feather covers, we packed our bags and checked out. We could leave the car in the underground garage and walked into the Altstadt to explore. We goofed off, Ingressed and had a lovely brunch at a cafe/icecream parlour for half the price it would have cost at the hotel.

The last time I was in Köln was with my father for the Weihnachtsmarkt in 2013, so there were many mixed feelings, but good memories as well. I also knew my way around a bit and we could navigate quite well by paying a little attention where we were going.
Surprisingly, all the shops were closed on Sunday (no longer used to that!) but there were still loads and loads of people walking around the main shopping streets.

We strolled at the Rhein and climbed the Light bridge (also a portal on Ingress), overlooking the water and enjoying being out in the wild. Around 2, we picked up the car and drove home, another adventure behind us. Bratwurst, Flammkuchen, Gaffer Kölsch and Larp!

Still upside-down from the trip to Köln, the drive back, being tired and having a slow Monday morning. But no time for all that: school was calling me and there were two people waiting for me to drive them there.

To my dismay, I had forgotten to finish the homework assignment (reverskraag maken) and had to finish it hastily fifteen minutes before we had to go. I sewed the buttons on before class, and handed it in, semi-satisfied.
But not only did my drafted patterns I had sent by snail mail last week not arrive at all, I also didn't finish drafting the coat pattern we had to practise nor did I adjust the sleeve from the week before that.

I'm looking at some hard work for this week:
- Sew another one of those bound buttonholes, using a slightly different technique this time
- Copy the pattern pieces of that coat we drafted in class and make fabric estimates
- Draft my skirt patterns on full-size
- Make the six- or eight-paneled skirt ready for hemming
- Make the straight skirt ready for fitting
- Do the coat pattern after all and mail it to the teacher so she can check my work

Lots to do, and only a week to do it in.

Jaaaaa!
